Don't worry, This is a very brief introduction just to reassure you that what is being shared is based upon real life experience and not simply theory. I assure you, you're in safe hands I deliver this material every week and talk from experience not simply theory. (Apologies for the cap I am wearing, by the way. Virtually all these sessions were recorded during Corona lockdown and my inability to have a haircut actually meant the cap looked better!). Hope it's not too much of a distraction!
This session is all about what great leadership looks like and I'll introduce some well known leadership models. The session encourages you to explore your own leadership strengths and looks at how these qualities can impact upon others from the perspective of building trust and respect with a view to getting the best out of others.
As part of this session we explore leadership "styles." How to adapt your leadership style to best suit the situation and people you're working with. You'll get introduced to "Situational Leadership" a model developed by Hersey and Blanchard that highlights the need for leaders to flex their approach to get the best out of others. You'll get a chance to identify your own preferred leadership style and gain insight into what's necessary from you to develop those areas that require additional focus.
This session's all about communicating with others. I understand of course you've probably been communicating with others ALL your life, so it's reasonable to assume you're already pretty good at it...So what I focus on here is why our communication can be misinterpreted at times and what we need to do as individuals to adapt our communication style to better connect with, and thereby more effectively influence and persuade, those around us. I'll introduce a model and you'll get a chance to identify your own preferred communication style.
Not everyone is motivated in the same way, and understanding what others primary motivators are, goes a long way in setting them up for success and performing at their best. You'll get introduced to a number of motivation models and gain a broader understanding as to what you can tap into to build on others drives and desires...
In part 2 of motivation I've attempted to keep everything as real as possible. I introduce familiar workplace scenarios from motivating demoralised team members to keeping star performers fired up! It can be easy to give up on some, and lose others who are real assets, simply because of a lack of focus and creativity on our part, so this session explores all the options available to being there for our people when they need us the most.
As leader, your success in large part will come through the success of others, those individuals you manage, develop, challenge and inspire. This session will support you in ensuring your future 121's with team members are focused and productive with goals/objectives jointly agreed upon and clearly defined. I'll introduce another model to support your performance management conversations and we'll use "SMART" a hugely popular acronym in the business world to set measurable objectives that will make you're 121's with them members, productive and time well spent.
In this session I'll introduce an easy to use feedback model that can be applied to both praise and developmental feedback. I'll introduce a scenario you can practice with and we'll go into detail as to how to handle those people who don't respond well to feedback. In addition and in the spirit of "managing upwards" we'll also explore the challenge of feeding back to individuals more senior, more experienced or who have greater expertise than us.
At the time of typing this I've been coaching for close to 15 years having received my coaching qualification from Oxford Brookes. Here I share here the core principles of coaching, why it's a skill you need to begin the journey of mastering and I'll set the scene for the coaching sessions to come, in which we explore the "what," "why" and "how" of coaching others...As I'm sure you'll agree if you've ever been coached, the benefits when done well, have the potential to be life transforming both personally and professionally. That said however, not everyone you'll lead will naturally embrace "being coached" in the same way. So as we go through this session, we'll look at the importance of building a coaching relationship and what that looks like specifically. In addition as part of this session we take a look at answering the question "How can I possibly find the time to coach my entire team?"...there are ways...And I'll dispel the myth there's isn't time to coach.
Having created and delivered hundreds of face to face and online coaching sessions to thousands of people, it's enabled me to collate an enormous amount of feedback on what people find easy and what people find challenging when it comes to actually having a coaching conversation. As part of this session I'll share ALL these common pitfalls should they materialise in any of your future coaching sessions. I'll talk through each one, bring them to life in real situations, highlighting why the situation might have arisen and how best to avoid/overcome for the future...
Change is an inevitable part of business life and as a leader of people there's a virtual certainty they'll come a time when you'll be supporting others through change. To be able to do that effectively it's going to be vital you're familiar with how change impacts each and everyone one us, the stages people go through and the impact emotionally these stages have on us. As we progress through this session I'll provide you with the tools needed to guide others through any potential upheaval, and provide direction and guidance as to how to support others as they transition into their new world with confidence and hope.
Put simply - It's a management and leadership programme the content of which you'd experience in the workplace but delivered as a series of online lessons. Each section is delivered in a "training style" with opportunities to take what you're learning and apply the models, tips and techniques in your workplace / day to day life as you progress through the course. Filled with real-world examples of common workplace scenarios it explores how best to handle a multitude of situations you'd expect to experience, when managing and leading other people.
This course is a massive upgrade to the previous programme I uploaded and is specifically designed to support those leading others - Be it just one or two people or large teams. The content applied consistently will go a long way to building management and leadership confidence leading to significant performance improvements for those you're responsible for.
The content of these sessions while unaviodably tapping into theory, is greatly expanded up through my own 35+ years experience of working within the corporate world. PLUS the insights, stories and experiences of literally thousands of people I have delivered this type of training to since I began working within the field of learning and development over the last 20+ years.
If you were invited to attend a quality management/leadership training session by the business you work for, much of what's here is what you'd experience. This course will 100% give you ALL the skills needed to become even more competent and confident in motivating and managing the performance of others through coaching, feedback, managing change and ensuring you're able to set direction through clarity of communication. The reason I can say that, is because I've delivered this content hundreds and hundreds of times and I'm consistently asked back to help develop the next generation of managers and leaders - So I'm figuring something must be working ;)
