Description

In this introduction to decision making, based on a conference publication for the Project Management Institute Belgium,

The goal of this course is to teach you to manage your decisions and yourself in these decisions, so that you are not overwhelmed but balanced and able to deal with them.

We will look first at:

- How decisions are typically described and how this doesn't help you make them

- The essential elements of a decision, what makes its impact, its costs, and produces our anxiety.

- How we deal with difficult decisions and who focuses on what.

Then you will be introduced to the STAR decision system, including:

- explanations of each section, what they mean and why they are useful

- how to approach each section, how to make them useful

- Two case studies at the personal and national level

After which, you will be introduced to the (short) view on problem solving, and (longer) explanations of decision making behaviours, so that you can recognise the appropriate behaviour at the appropriate time.

To close, you will receive a couple of additional examples to go through yourself to increase your flexibility and mental resilience in front of difficult decisions, as well as advice on how to develop further.

Who this course is for:

  • Anyone interested to develop decision-making skills.
