This is a short promotion and welcome video for the How to Get Rid of Headaches and Migraine Course, presented by Dr Paula Moore.
This lecture reviews the survey results that were collected from 75 posture pupils, and from which this course was designed. Thank you to all the students whose help made it possible to design a course tailored to fit your needs. I appreciate you!
This lecture explains how to get the most from this course. It is only ever a small percentage of enrolled students who complete their online courses. It’s human nature to want to jump straight to the solution but this isn’t just a 2-minute youtube video. This is a course for all students to learn as much as possible about headache, in order to gain the best opportunity to heal.
This lecture explains what is meant by a posture headache. When the head moves forward (forward head posture) our center of gravity moves forward, causing an increase in the muscle effort in the back of the neck and upper back. This can cause painful trigger points and referred pain into the head.
Use the forward head posture test, to see if you have a posture-related headache and to also monitor your head position over time.
In this lecture you will learn how to reduce forward head posture with the simple chin tuck exercise. There are 3 levels to work through.
In this lecture you will learn the difference between primary and secondary headache. You will probably discover the type of headache you have, how to recognize warning signs and red flags and learn how to avoid headaches from alcohol and carbs.
If we have been everywhere and tried everything to get rid of our headaches and yet we still have them, it’s perfectly understandable, that we worry.
In this lecture I give some guidance as to when to get medical help for a headache; because sometimes a headache can be the result of an underlying medical condition. But I really want to stress, that this is rare!
In this short little video I share the exact words you use to describe your pain. I know, because I asked you in the Headache Survey before launching the course, and this is how you described your experience of headache pain.
In this video animation lecture, you will learn that in order to successfully heal your headaches, you need to make friends with your pain. Because pain is a part of life, I will suggest that getting rid of the pain shouldn't be the goal and show you several ways to increase your pain threshold.
In this lecture I introduce the word myofascial. Myo, relating to muscle and fascia, relating to connective tissue. You will learn to recognize myofascial pain, what makes causes myofascial pain and understand the relationship between muscles and trigger points.
Human beings are certainly NOT meant to sit as long as most of us do each day. We should be out chasing wild boar and climbing trees. At the very least, we should be moving regularly, to reduce the impact of our sedentary, desk-based lives.
In this lecture we look at the Rules of Sitting: How to position your chair, what chair you should buy (or not buy) and whether standing is really better than sitting (at your desk).
We spend a lot of time driving our cars and as such we need to ensure that the postures we keep when driving, don't aggravate and/or cause headaches. In this lecture you will learn exactly how to adjust your head rest, steering wheel and driver's seat to optimize good driving posture.
Because we spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping, it is important to give some real attention to our sleeping posture. In this lecture, we look at best sleeping positions, and the top 6 sleeping no-nos.
In this lecture you will find out about Text Neck:
Caffeine for many of us is something we consume on a daily basis but it’s important to realize that caffeine is a drug. People who regularly consume caffeine, realize this when they fail to get their daily dose and begin to suffer from the symptoms of drug withdrawal.
Could your headache be masquerading as a treatable sinus headache? Well if it is, you will discover the 5-minute-headache-cure to prove it. Be warned, this is a messy job!!
If you are taking medication for your headaches on a regular basis, you should be aware of the risks. In this written lecture, you will find a chart will many listed headache drugs and their possible side effects. This list of medications (drugs) is intended for information purposes only. Do not diagnose or self treat. Please consult a medical doctor if you have ANY questions about these, or other medications, or if you wish to discuss dosage, side effects and/or risk factors.
There are many available (non-pharmacological) approaches to treating chronic headaches. In this lecture, I discuss the three approaches I’ve found to be very helpful over the years. There are certainly other healthcare specialists and practices out there, but I’ve not used them.
This short video lecture reviews what to expect from the next rehabilitation section of the course. I’ve included the 7 exercises that I use/d to heal my own headaches. These techniques are exactly what I use for myself. Nothing more, nothing less.
In this lecture you will learn several ways to avoid eye strain. At best, the eye exercises may reduce eye strain and associated headaches and at the very least, strengthen eye muscles and may even improve vision. Now that is something to wink about!
When we have anxiety and stress in our lives, one of the ways our body responds is with muscle tension. In this lecture you will learn progressive muscle relaxation - A technique that helps relieve muscle tension. In progressive muscle relaxation, we tense a group of muscles as we breathe in, and relax them as we breathe out.
In this lecture I show you a sort of kneading and squeezing of the muscles in the neck and shoulders. As you compress and release in a kind of rhythmical way, you will release the lactic acid that builds up in over-active muscle tissue. Ahhhh, feels so good!
Myo-fascial trigger points, also known as trigger points, are painful spots in the fascia (connective tissue) surrounding muscle. Trigger points in the neck and shoulders are commonly associated with referred pain into the head (headache). In this lecture I teach you how to treat your own trigger points to reduce and often alleviate headache pain.
It's really important that after any trigger point treatment (completed in the previous lecture), we stretch out the knotted muscles, so they don't rebound into short, over-active muscles again. In this lecture I show you how to stretch out the sub-occipital muscles, located right up underneath the skull bone.
In this lecture we learn how to perform self-massage for painful necks. In particular, we will be working the side of the neck, the shoulders and the top of the shoulder blade, where the Levator Scapula muscle attaches. This muscle may contain painful trigger points often responsible for pain in the neck and shoulder, stiff neck (aka crick neck) and headaches.
In this lecture we learn to use visualization and guided imagery that take advantage of our incredible mind-body connection. There is good research to support the use of behavioral techniques like relaxation and thinking to help a large number of migraine sufferers. The best part? These techniques can be learned and practiced easily, and without the negative side effects.
This next lecture introduces the use of my Secret Weapon. Using a massage pillow for sub-occipital muscle tension, lets you direct the massage just where you need it, helping muscles remain relaxed; which make trigger points and referred pain into the head (headache) less likely over time.
That winner is you!
Three new lectures were added December, 2019!

STUDENT REVIEWS:
Super clear, and helpful. I'm grateful for the improvement I've seen. Headaches are miserable beyond belief. So glad I found and did this course! Christina Ibarra
"I really enjoyed this course and feel I have a much better understanding of why I get headaches and what the origin of my headaches is. The material was very well explained both verbally and using easy to follow examples and diagrams. Dr. Paula's knowledge on the personal side of headache pain was a comfort and I enjoyed her personality. I now feel as though I have some tools to help me correct the habits that have contributed to my pain and discomfort. Thank you Dr. Paula!" Tracy Rice
"Fabulous course, lots of great information explained and demonstrated, easy to use the learning straight away to help. Thank you!" Dorothy Dowlen
"Paula has given us lots of great tools. Though I have had migraines for 30 years and researched lots of ways to relieve them, she had some new ideas I haven't tried before. But, of course, her ideas are only as good as my carry through in actually using them. Now the hard work starts of developing some new habits of using these ideas!" Marcia Welser

Thank you for your interest in my headache course.
I understand that other people don't realize how simple, beautiful and free you feel without a headache, until you have one, and suddenly nothing else matters.
Maybe there's a hammer pounding your skull or you feel like there's a tightrope around your head. You're neck is stiff and your head is throbbing, as if your heart is pounding inside your head. It's persistent and constant like a toothache in your head. Perhaps you are sensitive to sound and light and it makes you feel nauseous. It's all just bloody awful and you wonder how you're going to make it through the day.
Even worse than the pain, you don't feel you can't work because you can't concentrate or focus; you're worried about your health; it makes you moody because the pain is exhausting. You don't get important things done and you definitely can't motivate yourself feeling like this. Your headaches leave you feeling isolated from your friends and family, your quality of life is deeply affected and it pretty much takes the joy out of life.
Is that you?
This is no joke – I know what it is to suffer from chronic headaches, because I had them for years!
