This course is the online version of a face-to-face training workshop that has already been conducted dozens of times for different organisations in different countries. It will help you improve the way you facilitate by working on three areas:
Skills DURING the training. This includes (1) how to manage groups, with tips to entertain, build trust, guide and keep the focus. (2) The facilitator's personal development work includes body language, use of the voice and energy.
Preparation BEFORE a training. This includes (1) methodological aspects of adult learning that are key to consider during instructional design. Models include the forgetting curve, experiential learning and stages of competence. (2) The workshop design includes sections on how to start and close a session and how to define learning goals. It explores different delivery types in what is called the "facilitraining rainbow" model.
RESOURCES to enrich the workshop, with a focus on visual resources. You don't need to be an artist to express your ideas using visual resources.
The course is fairly short - you can complete it in less than three hours. Still, it covers a wide variety of content. Videos will not address the content in too much depth so that students can choose to study further the additional materials and resources included in the course that interest them the most.
No prior knowledge is required so that beginners can learn from it. However, it advances various content that makes it useful for experts.
