Learn to evaluate trading robots and expert advisors, avoid scams, and conduct step-by-step checks by running your own backtests for Metatrader products from the MQL5 metadata marketplace.
Identify scam products on the MetaTrader marketplace, where some robots don’t work or require specific broker accounts, and know refunds do not exist; evaluate before buying expensive robots.
Require a live signal from a real-money account before considering a trading robot. Verify claims with your own tests and beware of too-good-to-be-true results, ultra-smooth equity, and low-quality backtests.
Apply a one-way workflow to evaluate trading robots: check for a live signal, run tests, then complete history shift and Shimbo shift checks to detect manipulation.
Learn to evaluate trading robots by verifying live signals on real accounts, checking Myfxbook profiles, and using back testing to distinguish real performance from demos and scams.
Learn to run backtests in MetaTrader using Tick Data Suite, including downloading historical data, selecting data sources, configuring spreads and slippage, and running a euro dollar h1 test.
Run a backtest in Metatrader without tick data suite using standard data by downloading euro dollar history for all timeframes, then compare results side by side for higher modelling accuracy.
Evaluate trading robots with rigorous backtesting: perform the control test, history shift test, and symbol shift test to detect data manipulation and verify consistent results across EURUSD, GBPUSD, and gold.
Shift the data by 28 years using Tick Data Suite, run the test in expert mode, compare graphs, and save the report to confirm a successful history shift test.
Perform symbol shift tests by selecting a different symbol and switching data settings, so the robot seems to trade on euro dollar data; compare graphs and service reports.
Master control backtests without tick data by applying practical control methods to compare historical shifts and simple shifts.
Learn to perform history shifts without a tick data suite using the free History Shifter from the Mediterranean marketplace; export, shift, and re-import historical data across time frames.
Execute a simple symbol shift test without a data suite by exporting Eurodollar data, importing it into a new symbol, then compare control and shifted results to detect manipulation.
Run a simple shift test on the reindeer scalper pro trading robot, compare the resulting graphs side by side, and reveal manipulation when identical data yields different visuals.
Identify trading robot types to assess suitability and risk, distinguishing standard systems from dangerous ones, and observe back testing in visual mode to spot patterns.
Learn how standard trading systems open one independent trade at a time with a fixed stop, illustrating basic risk per trade via the Enzo robot on the hourly pound-yen chart.
Describe grid trading systems that place trades at evenly spaced levels around a price, showing how greed drives piling trades toward margin calls in bullish markets, whether time-based or indicator-based.
Explore how martingale trading systems escalate stakes after losses, only resetting after a win, and the severe risk of margin calls that can wipe out an account.
The grid martingale is a dangerous combination that can generate profits before a market move wipes out the account; backtests reveal an unstable equity curve and large, rapid losses.
Assess scalping strategies by examining how spreads and slippage in real accounts erode tiny pip profits, contrasting with demo results to avoid false impressions and identify viable account types.
Understand how 500 pips stop losses versus 9.9 pips take profit create outsized risk, reveal optimized backtests, long recovery times, and rising swap costs in trading robots.

This course is to help students learn how to evaluate trading robots (or Expert Advisors) on Metatrader 4. With trading robots costing from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, they are not cheap and it's important that buyers understand what they are buying to ensure they buy a suitable product.
The other issue in this area is that certain trading authors are falsifying the backtest results to boost their sales. These scam products are not that easy to detect at the onset and they do not work and not only that, you cannot get your money back once you have purchased. I felt it's important to ensure people know how exactly how to run these test themselves to ensure they do not end up losing money buying these scam products
It's not difficult to run these tests and I wanted to provide a step by step guide so that anyone and everyone can learn to do this. The course is not long and can be digested quickly. Equiped with this new knowledge, you can then go out and ensure that you can purchase your trading robots with confidence.
I use a bit of software called Tick Data Suite to do all these tests and this does cost extra money to purchase. However, you can also do these tests without this software and I will show you how.
