Kambiki Is a great technique that can be used anywhere within the session however I like to use it either at the start of the session to gently calm the nervous system or at the end of the session to bring it to close.
Pro tip - Dont push with force instead try to use your body and move like a gentle wave!
A skill for all wannabe shiatsu therapist is to learn to walk around the body! think of yourself like a cat moving slowly and softly
Tip - Try to spend as much time as possibly just get used to what a person feels like and practice moving around the body!
Palming is key to both diagnosis and treatment, try to move from your belly your hara and not from your shoulders!
The body is designed to move so stretching is a must to help soften the muscles the fascia and release energy!
Stretching can be a great way to let the spine breathe! as muscles tend to tighten around the spine.
We use our thumbs to connect with pressure points, this is all about being precise but don't stress if you can't feel energy this can take months or even years of practice!
Pro Tip - Try not to be pokey! you're not pressing, it's not about pressure it's about penetration go slow and the pressure points will let you in!
This is a more traditional approach to shiatsu done more in Japan than one handed Zen which is popular in the UK,
Pro Tip - Everybody is different so practice doing this in different positions
Pro Tip - Remember try not to use the tip of the elbow but the flat of the elbow
The Glutes are reservoirs for our Qi our energy so it's good to work these with everyone plus they are prone to becoming tight causing lower back pain.
Its all about hand position and balance!
You can allow your body to sink in deep on the hamstrings, but you need super light pressure at the back of the knee barely even touching! then on the calf some people can be sensitive so move slowly and with caution.
