Thanks for checking out this video course! You will learn a few new things when it comes time for caulking a bathtub edge. Let's do it!
VideoJoe is going to show you how he caulks the top edge of a bathtub. Now this particular bathtub is not a new bathtub at all. It's a bathtub that's over 15 years old but that's not going to stop VideoJoe from making this bathtub look like new again.
It's important to realize you need to remove all the old caulking & clean the top edge of a bathtub really good prior to applying any new caulking.
I have to laugh as I've seen plenty of bathtubs where someone just caulked over the old caulking & making things look worse. You can't do that!
If you want the top edge of your bathtub to look nice & clean & bright then I would suggest removing all the old caulking first then give it a good clean with a razor blade then wipe down ready for new caulking. Make sure the top edge of the bathtub is nice & dry prior to applying any new caulking.
Hmmm what type of caulking to use. I like to use bright white rather than to try to match a color of caulking to the grout color or anything like that. White is bright & clean looking & chances are your bathtub is white anyway so white it is.
The most important thing before caulking is to make sure you have a new tube of caulking so you can cut a nice small hole for the tip. Cut at an angle is best & a small tip not a standard or big hole at the end of your caulking tube.
