A little overview about how I approach this course and how to prepare yourself.
In this video we will be creating our first patch, a Pad, which is an evolving soundscape.
You'll learn about Envelopes, Filters, Semitones, Finetune, LFO's, Sub-Oscillators, Waveforms, Reverb and Distortion.
In this video we will be creating our second patch, a Lead, which is the main instrument of most compositions.
You'll learn about detuning two Oscillators against each other, Frequency Modulation, more about Envelopes, Delay, Randomizers, Custom Envelopes and how it all comes together to bring more life to your patches.
Just a short explanation about the Function parameters.
In this video we will be creating our third patch, a Pluck, which is simulating a specific playstyle from stringed instruments.
You'll learn about the relationship between the Volume and Filter Envelopes, how to create a sharper, edgier attack transient, more about modulation, Randomiziers and Custom Envelopes, about how to create rhythms with Delay and how to integrate and use the modwheel to perform modulations while your synth plays a sequence.
In this video we will be creating our fourth patch, a Bass, which is the important low-end accompany in most compositions.
You'll learn what distinguishes a Bass from the other patch types, what to avoid when creating bass, and that patches not always need to be super complex just because you can.
A little guide on how to make best use of the course from here on.
We will explore the different playmodes that you can pick on most synths and learn when and how to use them.
We will explore all the things that we can do with Envelopes.
We will explore how LFOs work in depth and how we can modulate things with them.
We will explore the freedom that custom envelope generators gives us, and when to prefer it over normal envelopes or LFO's.
We will explore different ways to apply randomizers and you'll learn about their different modes, and which to pick when.
We will explore the Noise module on the synth and what it can be used for.
We will explore more of the performance options that change how we can interact with a synth while we're playing it.
We will explore how to create spaces, from tiny chambers up to big halls, and what all the parameters on the reverb module do.
We will explore the different Delay plugins, from the normal Delay over the PS Delay up to the Tape Delay.
We will take a deeper look into Distortion, Overdrive, Bitcrush and the Wavefolder.
We will for the first time in this course look into the Chorus, Flanger and Phaser modules and talk about how to use them.
We will dive deeper into the Equalizer and what it can contribute when creating a patch on a synth. While we mainly focus on its purpose in sounddesign and talk about how to use it and how not to use it in different situations, you'll as well learn about a great technique to identify problematic frequencies.
We will explore the Compressor, a powerful tool to make patches sound "louder" without actually altering the volume, and also, how a Compressor can help us to make sounds more punchy.
Now that you know the most common and important effects: How do you organize them? Does it matter in what order you chain them up? And what is the difference between inserts and auxiliary channels as Pigments offers them in the FX section?
We will cover all of that in this episode!
What can we do with Arpeggiators and Sequencers, and what's their difference?
You'll learn about that and how to creatively use these tools.
We will explore FM Synthesis a bit further and for the first time talk about Wavetables,
while I give you practical examples on how to use them and go over all the new settings.
A summary about how to approach creating patches and a little refresher about the differences between the patch types.
Congratulations! You've now reached the end of our sounddesign course and learned about literally everything that is important to master the fundamentals. Let's talk about methods for you to stay motivated when creating patches and how to get better and keep making progress.
Hey Runners! I am Voider, a professional sound designer from Germany who has created a few commercial bestseller soundsets, themed around my futuristic style. This course will take you on a journey through the very core of a synthesizer, you'll learn about the most important parameters, the modules, the effects, and how it all works together. You will learn the fundamental concepts that'll give you the power to make your imagination come alive and to create your own patches or adjust presets to your taste, to give them your own unique flavour.
Synthesizers are beautiful instruments, in fact the most futuristic and modern instruments we have,
and they offer so much freedom and possibilites unlike anything else, if you understand how to utilize them.
And the best thing is, that all the plugins out there that we incorporate into our musical compositions are based on the very similiar concept of synthesizers. This means that once you've mastered synthesizers, you'll rarely look into the manual of new plugins, because everything makes sense to you naturally.
This course is specifically designed for beginners up to intermediate levels. While I will explain everything from scratch,
you will learn some advanced techniques with many examples as well.
Enroll now, grab a nice drink and load up your synthesizer - we've got sounds to create!
Welcome to the future.
