You are qualified. You have real experience. And yet your Australian job applications are going nowhere.
The problem is not your skills. The problem is that nobody handed you the rulebook.
This course was built by a recruiter and talent acquisition leader who arrived in Australia in 2008 as a skilled migrant - and then spent fifteen years on the inside of the Australian hiring machine. I have screened thousands of applications, shortlisted hundreds of candidates, and watched talented professionals get filtered out by a system they did not understand.
This is what I wish someone had handed me when I landed.
What you will learn in this course:
How the 5-stage hiring funnel works - and exactly where most migrants lose
What an ATS actually scans for, and the formatting mistakes that eliminate good candidates before any human sees them
What employers really mean by "Australian experience" - and three ways to reframe your overseas background so it lands
How to access the 70% of Australian jobs that are never publicly advertised
The five strategies that make unconscious hiring bias harder to apply to you
What every interviewer is actually assessing behind their questions - and how to answer directly to those criteria using the STAR-C framework
How to negotiate your salary without jeopardising the offer, and what to do in your first 90 days to build trust fast
Module 1 — The Hiring Funnel
Most job seekers think of a job application as a single event - you apply, someone reads it, and they call you or they don't.
That mental model is wrong, and it is costing you interviews.
Every application in Australia goes through a five-stage funnel, and most skilled professionals are being eliminated at stage one or two before any human being has read a single word of their resume.
In this module, you will see the entire funnel mapped out for the first time - what happens at each stage, where candidates are eliminated and why, and exactly where migrants are most commonly losing.
By the end of this module, you will never look at a job application the same way again.
Module 2 - Inside the Recruiter's Desk
A recruiter managing an active role is typically handling five to fifteen open positions simultaneously, each with up to two hundred applicants.
They are not reading every resume - they are triaging, and they are doing it fast.
Research consistently shows that a recruiter spends an average of about six seconds on each resume before making an initial decision.
In this module, you will go inside the recruiter's world - the volume, the six-second scan, and exactly what they are looking for in the top third of page one.
You will leave with three specific fixes that immediately move you from the invisible pile to the maybe pile.
Module 3 - The ATS Trap
Before any recruiter opens your resume, software has already decided whether to pass it through or file it away permanently - and most candidates have no idea this is happening.
An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) reads your resume the moment you hit submit, scanning for keywords, formatting it can process, and basic structural signals.
If your resume fails any of these checks, it does not matter how experienced you are - you are eliminated before a human ever sees you.
In this module, you will learn exactly how ATS software works, the five things it scans for, and the specific formatting mistakes that eliminate strong candidates.
You will also get a practical thirty-minute ATS audit you can run on your current resume today.
Module 4 - The "Australian Experience" Myth
"We are looking for someone with local experience" is one of the most demoralising phrases in the Australian job market - and it is almost never actually about your skills.
When employers say this, they are usually expressing one of three underlying fears: culture fit, local knowledge, or hiring risk.
In this module, you will learn to decode exactly what is behind that phrase - and get three specific reframe strategies that directly address each of those fears.
You will also build your own Experience Bridge Statement - a three-part formula you can use in cover letters, interviews, and LinkedIn to turn that objection into your strongest opening.
By the end of this module, you will have a confident, clear response ready for the next time you hear it.
Module 5 - The Hidden Job Market
Roughly seventy percent of Australian jobs are filled before they are ever publicly advertised - through referrals, recruiter networks, and direct approaches that happen long before a job ad is written.
If you have been spending most of your time on Seek and LinkedIn Jobs, you have been competing for the thirty percent.
In this module, you will learn why the hidden market exists, why employers prefer it, and four concrete strategies to access it - including how to build a target company list, engage recruitment consultants the right way, and activate your existing network including your overseas connections.
You will also get the LinkedIn outreach formula - a four-part message structure that gets you into professional conversations without ever asking for a job.
Five personalised messages per week compounds into twenty new connections per month - and that is how careers in Australia are built.
Module 6 - Hiring Bias
This is the module most career courses avoid - but it is one of the most important in this course.
Hiring bias is real, it affects migrants disproportionately, and it operates largely in the gap before conscious thought kicks in.
In this module, you will get an honest account of what bias actually looks like inside a hiring room - the difference between conscious and unconscious bias, what the research shows about name-based callback rates in Australia, and how it shows up at every stage of the process.
You will then get five specific, evidence-based strategies that make bias harder to apply to you - not by changing who you are, but by changing how you present your value.
This module will not make bias disappear, but it will give you the tools to reduce its impact on your job search significantly.
Module 7 - The Interview
Most candidates walk into an interview not knowing what is actually being assessed - and end up giving good answers to the wrong questions.
Behind every interview question, no matter how it is phrased, there are only four things a recruiter is evaluating:
whether you can do the job, whether you will do the job, whether you will fit the team, and whether you are a safe hire.
In this module, you will learn what those four criteria are, how to identify which one each question is testing, and how to structure your answers using the STAR-C framework so every response speaks directly to what the interviewer needs to hear.
You will also get a detailed breakdown of three of the most common interview questions - decoded to reveal the real assessment happening behind each one.
By the end of this module, you will walk into every interview with a clear map of what is being assessed and exactly how to answer it.
Module 8 - Negotiate, Onboard and Thrive
Getting the offer is not the finish line - it is the starting line, and what you do next matters just as much as everything that came before it.
In this final module, you will learn how to negotiate your salary professionally and confidently without jeopardising the offer you worked so hard to get - including what not to do, how to anchor to market data rather than personal need, and how to give a range with a clear floor.
You will then get a practical three-phase plan for your first ninety days - how to listen and build trust in the first thirty days, deliver a visible win in the next thirty, and begin positioning yourself for growth in the final thirty.
The module closes with four principles for long-term career success in the Australian market - including why your reputation travels faster than your resume, and why your international network becomes more valuable the longer you stay.
This is the complete picture - from application to offer to thriving in your role.
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Most migrants don't fail in the Australian job market because they lack skills. They fail because nobody told them how the system actually works.
This course changes that.
Built by a recruiter and talent acquisition leader who arrived in Australia in 2008 with no local experience and no local network - and then spent fifteen years inside the hiring system - this is the unfiltered, insider account of how Australian employers actually hire.
What the software filters out before a human sees your resume.
What a recruiter decides in six seconds.
Where the 70% of jobs that are never advertised actually come from.
What employers really mean when they say you don't have Australian experience.
How bias operates inside a hiring room - and what you can do about it.
Eight modules. Every stage of the hiring process. Taught by someone who has lived both sides of it.
By the end of this course, students will know exactly where they are losing, why it is happening, and precisely what to do differently. Not theory. Not generic career advice. The real picture - straight from a recruiter who has screened thousands of applications, shortlisted hundreds of candidates, and watched talented professionals get filtered out by a system they simply did not understand.
If you are qualified, experienced, and serious about building a career that reflects what you are actually capable of - this course was built for you.
