This course demonstrates how easy it is to make potent and effective home herbal remedies for winter wellness. You will learn how to identify some common herbs and wild plants that grow all over the temperate region. I show you how simple it is to make a herbal infusion, a remedy for a sore throat, a cough syrup, a tincture, the amazing Fire Cider Vinegar and a beautiful body balm for S.A.D. I make these remedies in my own kitchen and you can too. This course is suitable for beginners.
- Anyone with an interest in plants, healing and a need to reconnect to Nature. Anyone who wants to have some fun at being creative in a very positive way.
I am Terri Conroy of Danu's Irish Herb Garden and I live in the west of Ireland, in Connemara. I love plants, I love Nature and I love teaching about the wonderful benefits of incorporating herbs and plants into our lives. This course will enable you to take care of yourself and your family using herbs and spices you already have in your kitchen. The course is a practical, hands on course - I demonstrate every remedy so you can see just how easy it is to take responsibility for your own health.
In this film I am in my poly-tunnel and I am showing you the herbs and plants that I will be using. Even the wild plants have popped up here!!! You are probably already familiar with Sage and Thyme and I will show you Coltsfoot and Whit Horehound as well as St. John's Wort and Nasturtium.
In this video, Lesson 1, I show you how to prepare fresh Sage to make a tea or an infusion for sore throats. Sore throats are often the first sign of a cold or 'flu and this remedy is perfect for halting colds and 'flu in their tracks. Sage tea is antiseptic and anti-bacterial and is a first call whenever you get a tickly, itchy throat.
This is my take on Rosemary Gladstar's recipe. in this lesson I am infusing a variety of herbs and spices in organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother. After one month this will be strained. It can be taken on the spoon, put into salad dressings, into stews and soups and casseroles. Be as creative as you like!
A hard, racking cough is hard to bear and weakens the system. This cough syrup is easy to make and will soothe mucous membranes, reducing the soreness. As Coltsfoot is an antispasmodic herb, the cough will be more productive with less effort and what needs to come up will be loosened.
A liniment is great when rubbing helps those aching muscles and joints, as it gets the circulation moving. When people are especially sore and when they need to pamper themselves during the long, dark days of winter, the ointment or balm is another option.
