However, there's a lot of good reasons why you don't do it: it takes too much time, organic food is too expensive, the recipes are too complicated, you don't know what to buy, and, lets face it, that pizza looks very tasty!
What if I told you that cooking healthy can be just as fast as eating out and there are some easy and healthy recipes out there , and you can do it for under $5 per day! It's really very simple, but you'll need some guidance to get started...
Fortunately for you, Cathy Erway's here to help. She isn't trained by the culinary masters of the world. She's doesn't make millions cooking for rich people. She doesn't even own a restaurant! So... where do you start?

Instructor
Cathy Erway is the author of The Art of Eating In: How I Learned to Stop Spending and Love the Stove, which USA Today hailed, “deserves a toast." It was based on her two years of going without restaurant food and her popular blog on that topic, Not Eating Out In New York. In the process of rediscovering the merits of the home-cooked meal, she explored the underbelly of New York City's food culture, cooking for supper clubs, competing in or organizing amateur cook-offs, trash diving with the “freegan" community and foraging for wild edibles in the park. When her passions for creating what she ate took her to agriculture, with a particular interest in urban farming, she helped hoist a green roof with more than thirty varieties of heirloom vegetables, herbs and flowers and an egg-laying chicken coop on top of the local brewery, Sixpoint.
Cathy has written about food, farming and green living at The Huffington Post, Saveur, Edible Brooklyn and Brooklyn Based. Begun in 2006, Not Eating Out in New York has received numerous honors, including being chosen in the “Top 50 Food Blogs in the World" by the Times UK in 2009. It has been featured in Newsweek, Glamour, Shape and Martha Stewart Living magazines, and Cathy has made numerous television and radio appearances, including Good Day New York and WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show. Cathy hosts the weekly talk radio show podcast, Eat Your Words, on Heritage Radio Network, where she has interviewed guests such as Julie Powell and Mark Bittman on all things home-cooked. Cathy is a co-founder and curator of the Hungry Filmmakers food documentary screening and discussion series, and has co-hosted numerous fundraisers for the local nonprofits Just Food and Slow Food NYC. She lives, writes, cooks and grows in Brooklyn.
