Cymatics is the study of visible sound vibrations, and it has evolved our understanding of how sound affects all of us. We’ve all heard how singing a very high note can shatter a glass, or the sound of a violin can move grains of sand; the cells of our bodies, minds and spirits are affected the very same way by sound vibrations, especially the ones from our own voice! This study affirms that everything we perceive is continuously vibrating at its own rate.
Your primal voice is a reflexive organic sound production which includes crying, yelling, calling and whining. When you cried as a baby neural pathways were developed that connected to your larynx and became hardwired. From an early age the perception of our voices becomes colored with what we learn about making sounds.
When children are expressing themselves with shouts, screams, whoops of joy and other primal sounds, what do we tell them? Sit down and be quiet! This probably causes us to develop unnecessary tensions based on fear of reprimand which also becomes hardwired in the brain.
This may result in getting in our own way of creating free and authentic sounds as an adult. It is interesting to observe the resistance in my clients when we are working with organic sounds. They are surprised that something so simple as a cry or yell gets stuck in their throats!
One of my favorite authors, Dr. Christiane Northrup, says in her bestselling book, Women’s Body, Women’s Wisdom, “Making sounds is an important part of emotional release.” In another story I read, a midwife said it was her experience that mothers who were more vocal in the birthing process had less complications than mothers who tried to control the desire to yell!
When you use a primal sound it elicits an “old brain” or limbic system response that is very reflexive and efficient, and reconnects you with those free, instinctive sounds you made as a baby.
EXERCISES
1. Make silly, organic sounds while shaking to release constrictions in the body. Shaking is used in indigenous cultures in ceremonial dances and healings. Animals shake when stressed, people shake when in shock - it’s the body’s way of maintaining stasis or balance.
2. Make an OOH sound as low as comfortable for at least 5 times with your hands on your chest and belly. Notice how you feel.
3. What are some primal, organic sounds we use every day? UH, OH, AW, OW, HA, YAY. Put your hands on the back of the neck and low abdomen - feel how your abdomen contracts to support the sound. Notice how you feel.
In this exercise, I'd like to guide you through a practice where we are going to be using 3 sacred vowel sounds in order to feel the vibration in different places in your body. The use of the sacred vowel sounds has been used for thousands of years, and this is because they are very rich in overtones and the resonances that we talked about in the last couple videos.
And those overtones and resonances suffuse through your entire being, waking up every cell, every molecule of your body, and literally rearranging them because sound can transform and reform matter. The sound of your own voice is very heart opening as well and can help aid in your connection with your divine aspect.
You can also experiment with different vowel sounds as well. There's a myriad of sounds, and shapes, and permutations of each vowel sound. Again, I encourage you to experiment. Allow yourself to be playful with your voice. You're going to find that the more you can make different sounds like you did when you were a little kid, the more you can stretch your voice - to do more than what you think it can do, and just allow without judgment, that will stretch or expand your idea of who you think you are. Because your voice literally is a representation of who you are. We identify ourselves with our voice. So, what your voice can do, your brain, your body, and your mind will follow.
In this video, I guide you to send love and gratitude to each organ, clearing congestion, using the 6 Healing Breath Sounds of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I also encourage you to use your voice organically to further open up the flow of energy or qi in your organs which affects the energy flow in your entire body.
It may surprise you that emotions are not the product of your brain, but are expressed, experienced and stored in your body. Some emotions, such as painful, traumatic memories can cause constrictions in the body, especially if they are suppressed or the healing is interrupted. These emotional constrictions can be triggered through a stimulus. I believe our voice can be that stimulus.
Allowing your emotions to surface into your awareness is the beginning of allowing the healing and restorative processes to complete.
One of our least noticed senses is your sense of touch. Research has shown that this sense, along with your sense of hearing, form a network in the body/mind. This may be the most powerful influencer of all for deep access to the unconscious mind - to heal, awaken consciousness and release emotions.
This is the place where we touch others and form union and where we touch our inner selves at our deepest part. This is a journey into intimacy…the place where you can touch your inner self - where you can consciously connect to the intelligence within your body.
It’s amazing to think of our organs, tissues and glands as storage places for emotional memory. Dr. Candace Pert, who was a significant contributor to the emergence of Mind-Body Medicine stated that “your body is your subconscious mind” and that our physical body can be changed by the emotions we experience.”

Find a private space where you will not be disturbed for the next 20 minutes or so. This practice is like a meditation, so it may be very relaxing for you.
After your complete the sequence, sit quietly with your attention on the breath and a background feeling of your body as a whole. When you go through this practice, you are bringing emotions into consciousness and activating any interrupted healing.
The general idea that we are all taught is that the brain is the master of the body/mind. In this beautiful video from HeartMath Institute, you will learn that the heart actually is the dominant center of the body - as if you didn't know that already...
New research has revealed that the heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. They have also found that the nerve center of the heart is so complex, they termed it a “mini-brain.” The heart also produces neurotransmitters and hormones previously thought to only be produced by the brain, like oxytocin, the love hormone.
As if that wasn’t enough, the heart is about 100,000 times stronger electrically and up to 5000 times stronger magnetically than the brain.
It also produces a measurable electromagnetic field called a torus field, which radiates out about 3 to 4 feet, and reacts with other people, animals, nature and our environment. You know when you have a good heart feeling (or not) about someone? You are experiencing their heart field!
Your voice is more than sound. It is vibration. It is energy in motion. And for many of us, it’s one of the most direct pathways back to our body, our truth, and the deeper wisdom inside.
In this self-paced course, you’ll explore voice, sound, breath, and somatic practices designed to support stress relief, relaxation, emotional release, and authentic expression. And if you’re drawn to the more subtle layers of this work, you may also begin to experience your voice as a bridge to inner guidance — the quiet “knowing” of the higher self, the heart, and the intuitive voice beneath the mind.
Through guided vocal practices, humming, vocal toning, chakra-based sounding, breathwork, gentle movement, EFT tapping, and conscious listening, you’ll learn how to use your voice as a steady companion in daily life — to regulate, release, and reconnect.
This isn’t about trying to sound a certain way. It’s about building a relationship with your own voice that feels safe, honest, and alive.
Many students come to this work for self-care and end up discovering something more: a sense of inner alignment, a clearer yes/no in the body, deeper self-trust, and a more open channel of expression. You can approach this course in a practical way, in a spiritual way, or in your own blend — all are welcome here.
This course is designed as an ongoing resource you can return to whenever you need grounding, calm, clarity, or reconnection with yourself.
Important: This course is for personal growth and self-care purposes only and does not provide professional certification or clinical training. Udemy may issue a certificate of completion when the platform registers 100% completion.
