Welcome: Who I Am and Why This Course Exists
In this opening video, I want to do something most course instructors skip. I am going to tell you the truth about who I am before I tell you what I teach.
I am a certified somatic practitioner and trauma reprocessing specialist. I am a published author. I am also a chronic illness warrior who went from bed-bound on supplimental oxygen, receiving IV medication three times a week, to rebuilding my entire life from nothing — in a new state, with no safety net, and no roadmap.
I did not find healing through positive thinking or willpower. I found it by learning to listen to my body in a completely different way. By combining nervous system science with the spiritual truth of embodied manifestation. By doing the grief work nobody talks about. And by slowly, imperfectly, rebuilding an identity that belonged to me rather than to my illness.
This course exists because I needed it to exist and it did not. Because too many chronically ill women are being handed tools that were never designed for their reality. Because manifestation without nervous system safety almost never works. Because healing is not about fixing what is broken — it is about understanding what your body has been trying to tell you all along.
In this video you will meet me, hear my full story, and understand exactly what this course will give you over the next nine videos.
What you will walk away with from this video: A clear picture of who your instructor is and why her lived experience matters. An understanding of what this course covers and how each video builds on the last. The beginning of feeling seen in a way that is rare in the wellness space.
Your resource page for this video covers the full course overview, what to expect from each video, and your first reflection prompts to help you get clear on what you are here to shift.
If you have been living with chronic illness for any length of time, there is a good chance your body feels like the problem. Like something that has been failing you. Like a prison you are trapped inside rather than a home you live in.
This video is about changing that.
Not through toxic positivity. Not by pretending the pain is not real. But by introducing you to a framework that genuinely changed everything for me and for the women I work with: the idea that symptoms are not malfunction. They are communication. Your body is not breaking down randomly. It is doing the most intelligent, most desperate thing it knows how to do — sending signals that something needs attention in a language most of us were never taught to read.
In this video we explore what somatic medicine understands about the body-symptom relationship, why unprocessed stress and trauma get stored in the body as tissue-level dysregulation, and what actually becomes possible when you shift from fighting your body to getting genuinely curious about it.
We will also do your first short practice together — a simple two-minute body curiosity check-in that you can use from this moment forward, regardless of your energy level or pain level today.
What you will walk away with from this video: A foundational reframe of what your symptoms actually are and what they are trying to tell you. Your first somatic tool — the body curiosity check-in. The beginning of a different relationship with your body, one that does not require you to feel grateful for your illness, only willing to listen to it.
Your resource page for this video includes the key concepts from this lesson, a full written guide to the body curiosity check-in practice, and reflection prompts to help you begin identifying what your body may have been trying to communicate.
This is the video that makes everything else make sense.
Your nervous system is not just a biological background process. It is the operating system your entire healing journey runs on. And most chronically ill women have never been given a clear, accessible map of how it actually works — which means they have been trying to heal without understanding the very mechanism that determines whether healing is even physiologically possible.
In this video I am going to teach you polyvagal theory the way I wish someone had taught it to me. No textbook language. No clinical distance. Just a clear, honest explanation of the three states your nervous system moves between, what each one feels like in your body, and why chronic illness so often keeps people locked in the bottom two.
We will talk about why real healing — immune function, cellular repair, inflammation regulation — can only happen when your nervous system is in the safety state. Why rest alone does not always make you less tired. Why positive thinking can fail even the most devoted practitioners. And why none of this is your fault.
This is the framework that explains everything. And once you have it, you will not be able to unsee it.
What you will walk away with from this video: A clear map of the three nervous system states and how to recognize which one you are in. An understanding of why chronic illness is traumatic to the nervous system at a biological level. The beginning of real self-compassion — rooted in science, not just intention.
Your resource page for this video includes a plain-language breakdown of all three nervous system states, a list of signs associated with each state to help you identify your own patterns, and reflection prompts to help you understand where you spend most of your time.
I need to say something that the mainstream manifesting world has been leaving out. And I say this as someone who deeply, experientially believes in manifestation — not as someone who is dismissing it.
The reason your affirmations have not worked is not because you do not believe enough. The reason your vision board has not produced results is not because you are not worthy. The reason positive thinking loops back into exhaustion is not a personal failing.
It is because your nervous system has not been part of the conversation.
Your thoughts do not operate in isolation. They run on your nervous system. And your nervous system has its own beliefs — cellular, somatic, pre-verbal beliefs — that were formed through years of pain, medical uncertainty, loss, and survival. When your conscious mind sets an intention while your nervous system is in survival mode, there is a fundamental conflict happening beneath the surface. And biology almost always wins.
In this video I am going to show you exactly why that conflict occurs, what embodied manifestation actually means as an alternative, and how heart coherence research supports the idea that a regulated nervous system changes the signal your body sends into the world.
This is not woo dressed up as science. This is the missing piece that most manifesting teachers were never equipped to give you because they never had to heal from chronic illness.
What you will walk away with from this video: A clear understanding of the nervous system-manifestation connection that nobody else has explained to you. A practical body check-in to use before any manifesting practice. The relief of knowing the problem was never your belief or your worthiness.
Your resource page for this video includes a side-by-side breakdown of traditional manifesting versus the embodied approach, the body check-in practice written out step by step, and reflection prompts to help you identify where the gap between intention and result has been showing up.
This is the video you are going to come back to.
In this video I am going to guide you through your first somatic practice together — a five-minute nervous system reset that was designed specifically for people living with chronic illness. That means it requires no special equipment, no floor work, no energy you do not already have. You can do this lying in bed. You can do this on a flare day. You can do this right now, wherever you are.
This practice works by interrupting the autopilot. By taking your nervous system out of its habitual loop — the one that has learned to brace, to scan for threat, to brace again — and offering it something different. Physical contact. Breath. Presence. The simple experience of being held and heard.
It sounds small. It is not small.
The goal of this practice is not relaxation, though relaxation may come. The goal is interruption. Every time you do this, you are sending your nervous system new data. You are teaching it, slowly and consistently, that safety is available. That you are not always in danger. That it does not have to hold everything alone.
I recommend doing this practice at least once a day. Morning is ideal but any time works. Save this video. Return to it.
What you will walk away with from this video: A real somatic tool you can use immediately regardless of your energy level. An understanding of what to expect from the practice and how to know it is working. A 7-day practice log on your resource page to help you build consistency.
Your resource page for this video includes the full nine-step practice guide written out, a list of what responses to expect and why all of them are valid, and a 7-day practice log with space to record what you notice each day.
This is the video most wellness courses are afraid to make.
When chronic illness takes over your life — when it costs you your job, your friendships, your independence, your plans, your body as you knew it — something else happens quietly alongside all of that. Your identity begins to reorganize around the illness. Not because you chose it. But because identity is how the nervous system creates predictability in an unpredictable world. And when everything is uncertain, the illness becomes the one reliable thing. The lens through which everything else gets filtered.
And at some point, without realizing it, you become the sick person. Not just someone who has an illness. Someone who is one.
In this video we are going to talk honestly about how that happens, why it happens, and what it actually costs you — including why it can unconsciously work against your healing even when you are doing everything right. We are going to explore the crucial difference between having an illness and being defined by one. And we are going to do a guided identity audit — a series of questions designed to help you locate the parts of yourself that existed before the diagnosis and that are still there, waiting.
This is not about toxic positivity or pretending your illness is not real. It is about refusing to let it be the whole story.
What you will walk away with from this video: A clear understanding of how illness identity forms and what it costs. Specific language shifts to begin separating yourself from your diagnosis. A written identity audit practice to help you reconnect with who you are underneath the illness.
Your resource page for this video includes a breakdown of illness identity language versus separating language, the full identity audit written out with reflection space, and prompts to help you begin articulating who you are beyond what your body has been going through.
Nobody in the wellness space wants to talk about this. But I wrote a whole book about it.
My book is called The Life I Lost and Love That Remained. I wrote it because I needed it to exist. Because the grief of losing your life to chronic illness — the career, the friendships, the body, the independence, the future you had planned, the person you were becoming — is one of the most isolating, unacknowledged experiences a person can go through. There is no funeral. There are no casseroles. There is no socially sanctioned space to fall apart. And so most chronically ill women carry this grief entirely alone, for years, while simultaneously being told to stay positive.
What I have learned through my own healing and through working with women in this process is that unprocessed grief does not just sit in your emotions. It lives in your body. It contributes to nervous system dysregulation. It keeps your frequency anchored to the past. And it creates a low-grade emotional flatness that makes it impossible to feel real joy even on good days — because underneath every good day is all the loss that never got witnessed.
In this video we are going to name what chronic illness grief actually includes, understand why bypassing it keeps you stuck physiologically and energetically, and I am going to give you a practice — the letter of acknowledgment — that begins to let it complete.
Grief is not the opposite of healing. It is the door.
What you will walk away with from this video: Permission to grieve — fully, specifically, without resolution or silver linings. A clear understanding of why unprocessed grief contributes to physical and energetic stagnation. A guided letter of acknowledgment practice to begin witnessing your own losses.
Your resource page for this video includes a comprehensive list of what chronic illness grief includes so you can name what is yours, the full letter of acknowledgment practice written step by step, and reflection prompts to help you identify what has never been fully witnessed.
This is the video where everything we have built together comes into practice at once.
You understand your nervous system now. You understand why manifesting has not been working. You have done the grief work. You have begun separating your identity from your diagnosis. You have a somatic reset practice that is already starting to teach your nervous system that safety is available.
Now we are going to use all of that as the foundation for something you may have tried before but never quite like this.
In this video I am going to guide you through your first embodied manifestation practice. And it is going to be different from anything you have done before — because we are not starting with the vision. We are starting with the body. We are going to create physiological safety first. We are going to get you into a regulated, open, present state. And then, from that place, we are going to ask your body a question rather than your mind.
What would it feel like — in your body — to wake up one morning and feel at home in your life?
Not necessarily pain-free. Not necessarily cured. But at home. Alive. Like the life you are in belongs to you.
The answer that comes from your body in that state is not fantasy. It is your nervous system showing you what is available. And every time you practice generating that state, you teach your system that it is real. That it is possible. That it is already inside you.
What you will walk away with from this video: Your first complete embodied manifestation practice, guided from start to finish. An understanding of why this approach works differently than anything you have tried before. A post-practice journaling section on your resource page to capture what your body showed you.
Your resource page for this video includes the full nine-step practice written out, a post-practice notes section to record what you felt and where you felt it, and reflection prompts to help you understand what your body's response is telling you about what is possible.
You made it. And before anything else, I want to acknowledge what it took to get here.
Watching all nine videos. Sitting with the grief chapter. Trying the somatic reset, maybe more than once. Doing the identity audit. Feeling, even briefly, what your future self feels like from inside your body. That took something real. It took openness, and courage, and a willingness to try again in a space where trying again has not always gone the way you hoped.
That matters. You matter.
In this final video I want to do two things. First, I want to reflect back everything you have built in this course so you can see it clearly — because when you are in the middle of healing work it is easy to underestimate how much has actually shifted. And second, I want to be honest with you about where this course ends and where the deeper work begins.
What we covered here is a real, meaningful introduction. The practices are real. The framework is real. The shifts you may have started to feel are real. But the full transformation — the week-by-week somatic healing, the trauma reprocessing, the complete identity excavation, the sustained embodied manifestation container — that takes more than nine videos. It takes being held through each stage. It takes someone walking with you when the old story gets loud and the nervous system tries to pull you back.
That is what I built The Lit From Within Protocol for. And in this video I will tell you exactly what it is and how to find out if it is right for you.
This is not a hard sell. It is a genuine invitation from someone who knows what it costs to stay stuck and what becomes possible when you finally do not have to be.
What you will walk away with from this video: A clear summary of everything you built in this course and how to keep using it. Your full daily and weekly practice schedule going forward. A genuine, no-pressure introduction to The Lit From Within Protocol for anyone ready to go deeper.
Your resource page for this video includes a complete summary of all tools and practices from the course, your ongoing daily practice schedule, everything included in the full program, and your final reflection prompts to close this chapter and step into what comes next.
Are you exhausted from trying to heal while your nervous system is still in survival mode?
If you are living with chronic illness and you have tried everything — the positive thinking, the meditation apps, the manifestation practices, the rest — and something is still not shifting, this course was made for you.
In this course, somatic practitioner and trauma reprocessing specialist Briana walks you through the foundational principles of her integrated healing method: combining nervous system science with embodied manifestation to create the conditions for real, sustainable transformation.
You will learn why your body is not your enemy — and what it has actually been trying to tell you. You will understand the three states of the nervous system and which one is keeping you stuck. You will discover why manifestation fails without nervous system safety — and how to change that. You will practice real somatic tools you can use today regardless of your energy level. And you will begin the most important work of all: separating who you are from the illness that has been trying to define you.
This is not a cure. This is a completely different relationship with your body, your healing, and your future.
Briana is a certified somatic practitioner, trauma reprocessing specialist, and published author of The Life I Lost and Love That Remained. She went from bed-bound on oxygen to rebuilding her life from zero — and has dedicated her work to helping other women do the same.
Who this course is for: Women living with chronic illness, chronic pain, or invisible illness who are ready to go beyond symptom management and begin healing at the root.
What you will walk away with: Real somatic tools for immediate nervous system regulation. A clear understanding of why manifesting has not been working. The beginning of a new relationship with your body and your identity. And a clear path to go deeper if you are ready.
