Description

This course provides an in-depth study of the integumentary system, focusing on the structure, function, and clinical relevance of the skin and its appendages. Students will explore the anatomical layers of the skin (epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis), along with associated structures such as hair, nails, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands. Emphasis will be placed on the physiological roles of the integumentary system in protection, thermoregulation, sensory reception, immune defense, and vitamin D synthesis.

The course also examines common disorders and diseases of the skin, wound healing mechanisms, and the impact of aging on the skin. Clinical correlations, case studies, and laboratory observations may be used to reinforce theoretical knowledge and enhance practical understanding.
