Mary Tracey from Cincinnati gymnastics walks you through training and structuring workouts to include all elements for a competitive balance beam routine this season.
Develop acro skills on the balance beam through handstand drills, bridge basics, and front and back walkovers, using visual cues with blue and red blocks to build confidence.
Use progressive balance beam progressions to build confidence, starting on the laser beam with a blue line and no wobble, and reducing spotting as students advance.
Develop mental training on the balance beam by linking consistent arm placement and grounding feet to confidence, using arm sets and mental choreography to coach athletes through routines.
Apply the balance beam tips and techniques shared to make beam training more competent and consistent for athletes and coaches.
