If you’ve ever wanted to play fast, fluid tapping licks and runs, this course is for you!
Bobby gives you a crash course in this exciting technique, taking you from the bare basics to more advanced tapping ideas that you can incorporate into your lead playing.
The series also includes pentatonic tapping runs, some cool string-skipping arpeggio licks and some outrageous ideas using the side of the pick to tap and slide notes.
This series begins with the basic mechanics of the tapping technique. Firstly, we look at a bluesy lick that incorporates some tasteful tapping, before moving onto a faster arpeggio lick on one string.
Moving on from the previous arpeggio idea, we pick up the pace, getting the fingers moving by playing some fast, yet melodic tapping lines.
Our next step is to take what we learned in the previous video and add more notes by including open strings and getting more fingers involved in the action.
We now look at crossing strings using some of the ideas we looked at in the previous four lessons. This will enable us to play longer runs and create some interesting melodies.
Things really start to open up now. We look at some tapping runs using both the A minor pentatonic and E minor pentatonic scales, covering larger areas of the neck.
Again, covering a much larger area of the neck than in the earlier licks, we look at some fast ascending and descending tapping runs. This time, we’re using the Dorian scale, but feel free to experiment with other scales.
Now let’s look at some cool, fluid descending runs incorporating “Hammer-ons from nowhere”.
Next, we take a look at some movable tapped arpeggio shapes that utilise string skipping, allowing us to cover larger intervals.
Now it’s time to learn some fast trills using tapping, as well as another cool sounding and very useful ascending and descending pentatonic run.
We wrap things up with a couple of crazy tapping and sliding ideas using the side of the pick. Although slightly over the top, this could be an interesing idea to use during a long solo if you happen to run out of licks!
