By the end of this course, you’ll have a finished piece that will amaze you, and maybe even surprise you, with what you’re capable of achieving.

Why Pastel Pencils?

Pastel pencils are one of the easiest and most forgiving art mediums to learn. As an artist with over 30 years of experience, I can confidently say they’re perfect for beginners. They blend effortlessly, layer beautifully, and offer a level of control that makes creating detailed artwork a breeze.

What Makes This Course Unique?

You don’t need any freehand drawing skills to get started. We provide an outline drawing for you to trace, so you can focus on learning and enjoying the process. Step by step, I’ll guide you through the techniques to create a lifelike grey cat’s eye, showing you just how easy and rewarding pastel pencils can be.

What You’ll Need

Getting started is simple! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Pastel Pencils:

    • Faber-Castell PITT Pastel Pencils (101 White, 230 Cold Grey I, 233 Cold Grey IV, 181 Payne’s Grey, 143 Cobalt Blue).

  • Pastel Paper:

    • Sand-coloured PastelMat is ideal for its durability and ability to hold multiple layers, but other pastel papers like UART 800 grit work well too.

  • Outline Drawing:

    • Use the provided outline to trace your starting point. A graphite or white tracing sheet makes this quick and easy.

Learn Step by Step
