Explore radiant cooling as a low-energy alternative to compression-based systems in green building design, using water-filled ceiling or floor panels to transfer heat mainly by radiation with convection.
The module compares space heating options for green buildings, from electrical resistance heating to heat pumps using air, ground, or water sources with solar-assisted systems, highlighting efficiency and costs.
highlight that natural gas is the most efficient option for furnace heating in green buildings, while oil is discouraged; the lecture also covers propane, AFUE, and dedicated small duct systems.
Explore boiler-based space heating for green buildings, comparing fire-tube and water-tube boilers and central hot-water or steam distribution, with emphasis on efficient controls and sizing.
Improve space heating boiler efficiency in green building design by reducing excess air with oxygen sensors, minimizing leaks, and recovering waste heat via economizers and regenerative exchangers.
Explore radiant floor heating as a comfortable, uniform heat source using electric cables or hydraulic tubes, comparing electrical radiant and slab on grade systems, with design, insulation, and leakage considerations.
Integrate building systems through an energy management system to optimize energy use with automation, weather forecasting, occupancy-based zoning, chiller staging, and predictive maintenance, delivering efficiency and comfort.
Explore how thermal energy storage enables off-peak heating, cooling, and power in buildings by using sensible, latent, and chemical storage options, with design considerations, selection criteria, and pros and cons.
Is Green Building means a building cover surrounded by Green Plants & Trees..? Well, It's more than this. A Green Building combines a aspects like Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Sustainable Material, Indoor Environment Quality, Sustainable Building Planning & Design etc.
With the Focusing on this Aspects, The Course is Design to provide you immersive Learning of " How to Design Green Building" with different Parameters that are discussed in following lectures.
This course is about Green Building Design that provides learnings on Radiant Cooling, Space Heating, Energy Management Systems & Thermal Energy Storage. The course total 4 sections which are as following.
Section 1 : This section consist 1 lecture that focuses on Green building - Radiant Cooling. The lecture provides learnings on Basic of Radiant Cooling & it's fundamentals, types of Radiant cooling systems, where & when it's applicable, PROs and CONs of Radiant Cooling.
Section 2 : This section a 4 lectures which are based on Green Building - Space Heating. The lecture comprise the topics are Space Heating through Heat Pumps as well as through Fossil fuels, Boiler controls Auxiliaries, Boiler waste heat recovery, Radiant Slab Heating system as well as Radiant Panel Heating Systems
This course series is useful for those who wish to understand design aspects of Green Building. The course is not about remembering points and credits but it is about conceptual understanding of different parameters affecting Design process of Green Building. Prior going for LEED or any other Green building exam, if the Design concept is understood, It will make the process of Green certification as well as credentialing process much easier.
