This is a walk tough of Adobe Illustrator. It may look intimidating at first but we’re going to be going through the main tools you need .
One of Adobe Illustrator’s greatest strength is the the flexibility of the type tools and options. In this section we walk through some of the settings.
Where do designers find fonts? In this section we look online at some of the options out there and how to instal them.
Now that we understand how to use the type how can we design our shirt with it. We go through the basics of layout with the type tool in this section.
As your t-shirt business expands you’re going to find that you don’t want to use just the free fonts out there. Where do designers find some of their great fonts and art resources for their shirts?
What good is knowing Illustrator if you can’t export your shirt in a format Amazon can use? In this section we go over the exporting options for your shirts.
Ever wonder how to get that curved text effect? In this section we go through type on a path or on a circle and some of the type settings that helps you do that.
This section goes over the ins and outs of using Masks from the very beginning.
Now that we have a basic understanding of how masks work lets design with them. Masks are a great way to dress up basic text t-shirts
Have you ever wondered how to get that distressed effect? In this section we go over how to use masks to apply that effect and also how to make your own textures to use as distressed masks.
Shapes are a powerful tool in Illustrator. We can use them to make illustrations or patters to use in our shirt designs.
Now that we have the basics of shapes down lets get to making some patterns with them. These are patters we can group together with what we’ve learned about masks to make more dynamic designs.
This section isn’t so much about Illustrator but more about how to use contrast to make your shirts look better.
The pen tool is one of the more complicated elements of Adobe Illustrator. in this section we go over the basics
Now that we have the basics of the pen tool down how can we make patters with the pen tool? In this section we go over repeating shapes and drawing on a grid.
In this section we continue to make patterns but we're using curves and manipulating anchor points using the pen tool.
Time to get off the grid and do some freeform drawing with the pen tool.
In this the final project we're putting together everything we have learned up to this point to design a shirt. We start with tracing a sketch cartoon refrigerator.
In this section we learn about moving shapes backwards of forwards on a layer to continue to draw our character.
In this last section we finish out T-shirt design and add some text to go along with the character we created.
