We've structured this course into two main sections: first, we will go through basic design theory, focusing on research and the principles of graphic design and secondly, we will get into actual design work using Canva and Photopea.

You need your activity, your business to come to light, you need to engage people. That means digital or printable forms that will help you get your message across. If your field of activity assumes communication, I won't need to tell you about just how important it is for your materials to look neat. You don’t need, however, to necessarily externalise work to professional designers – with the help of this course, you can save a lot of energy and resources!

Why should you choose this course?

This free course will help you get started with two of the best free software available and then provide you with a fast, no non-sense workflow from scratch to ready-to-publish designs. Also in Part 1, you will get briefed on the principles that make good design, as well as an easy-to-understand explanation on the two types of digital image.

Here are the projects followed through within this course:

  1. A Mood Board

  2. A Facebook Cover

  3. A Facebook Post

  4. An Instagram Story

  5. A YouTube Thumbnail

  6. A Printable Poster

Florian Matei - Graphic Design Basics for Educators Using Free Software

I am a Graphic Designer with strong Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender and Substance Painter skills. I was responsible for designing the UI, as well as 3D and 2D in-game artwork (maps, back-drops) for educational video-games, including the Steam listed The Spirit of Europe – Origins.

I have spent the last 5 years alternating between the Adobe Suite and Blender and Unreal Engine 4 in the production of Indie video-games, which makes me versatile and adaptable and understanding of the big picture. I also have a teaching background and held beginner-level Graphic Design and Blender 3D courses for European exchange students.

Cristina Anamaria Nistor - Basics in Management of Volunteers

I have extensive experience in volunteer management, having worked with volunteers for over 12 years. As a youth worker, trainer, industrial and organizational psychologist, and general manager of a youth-focused non-profit organization, I understand the importance of effective volunteer management.

Throughout my career, I have served as a project manager, facilitator, trainer, volunteer coordinator, recruitment manager, mentor, and reinforced mentor in various Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps projects. These projects have involved volunteers and partners from diverse continents, providing me with valuable insights into managing volunteer programs on a global scale.

Furthermore, I have actively volunteered for local, national, and international educational, cultural, and athletic events and projects. I have experience in organizing large-scale sporting events with hundreds or thousands of participants. In fact, I co-founded a club dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle and sports among amateurs. My initial experience in the sports field began as a volunteer responsible for athlete registration for a half-marathon event.

With my multidimensional experience and passion for volunteer management, I am well-equipped to guide you through the strategies and best practices for engaging and empowering volunteers.
