Hi, I am Jignna.
Pre-school Teacher and researcher in child psychology
Fifteen years back, when I came to know, I would be a mother of twins. I was very excited and equally concerned. The news of becoming a mother seeded a thought to learn more about parenting & child psychology. I started reading more about raising twins, grooming a child and read many books on parenting. Being a mother of fraternal (boy & girl) twins motivated me to understand more about child behaviour. I started my professional career as a secondary school teacher; I used to teach computers as a subject. As I was blessed with twins, I took a break in my professional career to look after my kids. When my kids turned five years, I restarted my professional journey. Instead of being a regular secondary teacher, I opted for a pre-school teacher to balance between my professional career and as a mother.
For the last ten years, I have been working with pre-school children and my habit of reading, especially on child psychology & parenting, help me to solve many problems of my students. Even tips shared by me to the parents of my students help them to get wonderful results.
The following courses gave me new insight into child behaviour and helped me to experiment with children.
1. Everyday Parenting: The ABCs of Child Rearing from Yale university
2. Introduction to Psychology from Yale university
3. Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects from Deep Teaching Solutions
4. A Life of Happiness and Fulfillment from Indian School of Business
I strongly recommend following books to understand parenting & human behaviour.
1. The Rules of Parenting by Richard Templar
2.Positive Discipline by Jane Nelsen, Ed.D
3. Awaken the genius in your child by Shakuntala Devi
4. Atomic Habit by James Clear
Personally, I feel parenting is more about managing ourselves & enhancing our understanding of a child's behaviour. This approach will help us deal with the child more appropriately and create a fantastic experience for both of us, as a parent and a child.
