Gouache Botanicals: Paint a Simple Indian Floral Pattern

In this class you will learn to sketch and paint a simple floral pattern inspired by classical Indian Floral Designs in a very unique style.

We will cover the various steps involved in my process of creating these beautiful minimal floral patterns.

You will learn:

• How to gather material for inspiration

• Create stylized floral motifs and leaves for the pattern

• How to sketch the pattern layout

• Various ways to choose a colour palette for your patterns

• To paint the pattern using gouache paints

Who is this class for?

This class is great for illustrators, hobbyists and surface pattern designers who are just starting out.

This is an intermediate to advanced level class primarily because it requires some sketching skill and a steady hand. However, don’t be discouraged to take it if you’re a beginner! I have included some free practice work sheets which are specially designed for beginners to practice and improve hand control! These are great exercises even if you’re not a beginner as you can use them to warm up before you start.

By the end of this class you will have a beautiful Indian floral pattern which you would’ve created from scratch and a good knowledge of the initial design development stages of creating a floral pattern.
