Know when to bail on the wrong job opportunity – and do it!

In an increasingly tough jobs market, many people believe that they’re ‘lucky to have a job at all’ and should simply grab any opportunity that comes their way.

But why not think of it like this – it may just be the employer who’s lucky to get you. So how do you know which job opportunities are the good ones, and which ones you should bail out on?

Don’t start with searching for jobs you’re over-qualified for and probably wouldn’t want to take if they were offered to you.

Create a frame for your ‘ideal job’ offer. When that offer comes through, you’ll know exactly what you want and need from your employer.

Take as an example an employer who interviews you and then leaves you hanging for weeks on end with no word as to the outcome. Of course, there may be reasons for this –surely the key thing is to get someone in as fast as possible

An employer who umms, ahhs and tries to get out of keeping their commitments may be one you don’t want to work for.

Set your own time frame for communications and stick to it – if the employer fails, walk away.

If the employer moves the goalposts and you’re not happy with where they end up, don’t sit back and accept it. Speak up, and if you’re still not convinced then perhaps it’s time to bail. Better to wait until an opportunity you’re comfortable with comes along.

Believe that you’ll find your ideal situation, and don’t accept less – you’ll be surprised how the world will oblige you.

  • Ways To Motivate Staff3:28

    Ways to Motivate your Staff

Clueless on how to motivate your employees?

Its a difficult concept to fully master.

So here is a list of great ways to motivate your staff

Fulfill the needs of your employees

    · in order for someone to be motivated = unfulfilled need.

    · This can be monetary needs, social needs, accomplishment etc etc

    · People are motivated because they need something that they don’t have.

    · determine what these unfulfilled needs are - your staff isn’t always going to just tell you

    · then fulfill them.

    Pay, recognition and benefits

    · does pay motivate employees? the truth is: it depends. Some people tend to be very motivated towards incentive pay. Others are not.

    · Being overpaid but hating your job – will this motivate

    · However, there is a much greater chance that money can motivate by linking recognition or status with pay.

    Praise

    · Short and sweet: some employees just need some good old fashioned praise, a pat on the back for a job well done.

    · Reward their good work so they deliver again.

    · Lack of praise however, will drain an employee’s motivation quick. Be sure to let your staff know when they are doing a good job.

    Career Level

    · This is more an indicator of motivation.

    · Someone who is invested in their career or career development is much more likely to be motivated or have the capacity to be motivated than one who is just looking for a job.

These are all examples of great ways to motivate your staff. These techniques won’t work on everyone, as each person has different and unique needs.

The most important thing, if nothing else it to ensure to reward good behaviour

Coaching Recruiters to Become Ethical Industry Experts via our Recruitment & Headhunting Academy

Thanks for Watching, and please check out the other content i have for you. Hope you enjoy.

These Vlogs i recorded a few years ago, so this should help improve your workflow, even use this info for your BD or just general Candidate Management as some of these topics, will arise soon, if they haven't already.

A little about me. I have been immersed in recruitment since 2004, working most of my career within Engineering, Technical and Construction.

My biggest one off fee to date was £72,000 and in 2022 billed just over £650,000 (£666,000 to be exact).

There are bigger billers out there, for sure, but there aren't many of them, as passionate about helping the next cohort of recruiters coming through as me.

I’d argue that point all day long!

My goal is to help, guide and pass on my knowledge and I am sure, you will find this useful!

Thank you for watching more importantly, as I know your time is precious. If you enjoy this or want some certain content to help, please let me know.
