This is a welcome lecture for your Goal Setting course
In this lecture, I will be introducing myself. I will like to know more about you too. Just stop by in the Q&A section and introduce yourself.
Now that you have given some thought to the questions - I am sure it is not only now but you have always been thinking about these goals. Some people also do achieve their goals and some people try to achieve them. The problem is the “issues” we face during the course. I will like to say one thing that I heard somewhere is “When you focus on the problems you will lose the goal and when you focus on the Goal, you will lose the problems”
Hi Guys, welcome to yet another lecture on goal setting. In the previous lecture, we tried to know the importance of focus and direction for you to achieve your goals. In this lecture, we will try to see why we miss our goals.
Experts say that Goal setting is an act of selecting your target or objective you wish to achieve. Everyone talks about goal setting, should be simple! In fact all around us you will see that we are all gearing up for a new/next milestone. May it be your career, organization, personal life - buying a house, getting married, etc.. There are milestones set. Everyone talks about setting them up, but no one talks about the science behind setting and following good goals.
Set goals that motivates you! Why? Well it is simple, you, me or anyone for that matter enjoys doing things they like or love. For example, when I doodle or draw something I lose track of time and keep doing it, because it interests me. I am sure, there are some who like to sing, dance, exercise or anything for that matter.
The same applies to your goals. If you like something, you are more likely to do it over things that you are not as motivated about. When you set goals for yourself, it is important that those goals motivate you: it means making sure that they are important to you, and that there is value in achieving them.
Hi Guys, welcome to yet another lecture in your goal setting course. In the previous lecture we talked about setting motivating goals and how to write down your goal on a piece of paper. In this course, we will explore more about SMART goals. So, let us get started...
Okay, I am sure anyone who you ask about goal setting. They will say make SMART goals. Some of you may have even heard about it. If not, let me explain the most successful formula of setting up a goal. It is, set SMART goals. No really. It is not only the word smart. It is an acronym. The acronym S.M.A.R.T. means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-sensitive or Time-bound
This is a simple case study about you planning a trip to Disney Land and how you can plan and save money for the trip. We will be using the principles that we just learned in our SMART goals lecture.
Hi Guys, welcome to yet another lecture in your goal setting course. In the previous lecture we talked about SMART goals. Goal setting is an art that should stimulate you and your senses. In this lecture, we will explore on how you can write better goals. So, let us get started...
The physical act of writing down a goal makes it real and tangible. You have no excuse for forgetting about it. I have already stressed on this activity when we started writing our goals. Yes, it comes back again. When you write your goals, you think, write and read. You senses are committed and on the brighter side, you will never forget about your goals, as you have them written down!
Hi Guys, welcome to yet another lecture in your goal setting course. Now that we have seen and also tried out writing a goal. We are kind of familiar with what to do. However, this time it is no exercise. It is the real deal. So, how do we go about it? Well, I hope you have your pen and paper.
Hi Guys, so we did an exercise on writing our SMART goals and then choosing the 4 goals that you would like to work on this year. I am sure you had your strategy to pick these goals but is there a strategy and do you think that these goals work in isolation to life? There is an ideal life and there is real life. The difference we all know.
Psychologists have a concept they refer to as “goal competition.”
Hi guys, so now that you have eliminated some of the goals and choosen the goals that you will be working on. Fantastic! So, you have a goal that you are going to work, you have not yet selected or identified, when will you work on it? Where will you work on it? Or how will you work on it. I am not sure, if you have seen the new apple watch feature of breathing. It seems so redundant. Well, I am breathing and that is how I can even see you, you little Apple watch. Then why did they add breathing as a healthy option? Why with a pattern for breathing? Why only 1 minute? Why 3 times a day? - Well, research shows that you are more likely to work on your goals, at least 2 to 3 times if you make a specific plan on when, where and how will you achieve your goal or task. This shows your intention to work and implement your goal - by identifying the when, where and how, you are exactly planning on acting on your goal.
How to be the best? How to be the top 1%. Did you know, at this point the world population is more than 7.7 billion based on a website that accounts for the world population. Again, this number will keep growing and depending upon when you see this video, it will be different. The point here is how are you different than the other 7.7 billion? What is special about you? How different is your dream, your goal?
Hi Guys, In the previous lecture we talked about being competitive, in this lecture we will be talking a little bit about your goals and how ready are you for your goals.
Most goal setting exercises start with an overpaid consultant standing by a whiteboard and asking something like, “What will you want to do in the next 1 to 5 to 20 years? In other terms, what do you want to achieve?”
Often times, we as human beings sail with different set of emotions or passion. Either we are in full-swing to do things or we drop the ball. Finding that middle balance and at times re-evaluating your goals is extremely important. It is important to recalibrate the goals

Why is Goal Setting course important?
Goal setting is everywhere in our world. We set goals for our careers, our health, and our lives in general. Modern society is always encouraging us to think about the next milestone. However, what we don't think about enough is the science and strategy of how to accomplish your goals.
Invariably, there’s a lot of chatter about resolutions around the start of the year. Every January we seem to have a collective realization about eating better, saving money, and getting in shape.
Often times, we make goals that we think should be our goals. And piece of advice I give to anyone who talks to me about goal setting is “Make goals that reflect what you actually want, not what you think you should want.”
Some people also do achieve their goals and some people try to achieve them. The problem is the “issues” we face during the course.
