Vinyasa Flow Yoga class to strengthen, and bring freedom of movement, to your body while calming your mind. A 20 minute class with Niamh Condron, your Certified Yoga Teacher since 2010.
Starting in a Child’s Pose, we awaken our attention onto our breath, quietening the mind and moving inwards. Beginning with a delicious upper body awakening, using a block or book, we begin to cultivate energy along the entire spine. Core centering, followed by lunging flow sequencing brings the entire body into a state of enlivened breath-body connections. We work to open the chest and shoulder area while flowing through warrior variations. We remain committed to the abdominals and find our way into an interesting simultaneous side body and backbend stretch and strengthener. Bridge pose opens the heart with sweetness and twisting Boat Pose challenges our core concentration. We are now ready to begin to stretch out. We take time to lengthen the legs and back body, then release the quadriceps and belly, and finally fall easily into a relaxing Savasana, feeling ready to receive the support of the earth.
While seated, we soften our attention inwardly and become present to our body and breath. Beginning with gentle movements, we release tension through side bending and chest opening. We then awaken the torso with movements that connect our legs to our core, increasing our stability. A lunging flow, with side plank variations, Crescent pose with interesting arm work, and Parsvottanasana stretching, invites us to focus on our balance while working out the legs. Warrior variations, with shoulder openers and balancing, build heat and release any stuck energy. A fun seated balance-challenge, focuses our mind and reminds us to keep our energy light. Then it’s a strong side abdominal work out involving arm strength and a little courage. To the mat we go for Bridge pose; opening the heart while invigorating the legs one more time. Our reclined core work includes twists and side body strengthening. Stretching out is a smooth experience; releasing the hips, quadriceps, hamstrings, and shoulders and shaking off any remaining tensions. Savasana comes next; sweet and deep. Time to relax well and feel the nourishment of your smooth flowing prana.
We start lying reclined, beginning with easy stretches of legs and arms, and, side body and lower back, in order to prepare our mind for movement and expand our awareness of body and breath. Lunging sequences and twists awaken the hips, legs and spine. Core work tones our abdominals and raises energy. Once warm, we work through warrior sequences, bringing a sense of strength to the legs that ground us sweetly into the earth. We open the hamstrings slowly and with great care ease our body towards Hanumanasana; front splits, using a block to assist. Third warrior sequencing follows and this challenges your balance, and your focus, and cultivates excitement about being consciously connected to every part of your body. When we take ourselves down to the mat, we combine a chest opening, core work flow that leads us into Bridge pose; a final delicious heart opener. Breathing into deep stretches we release the outer hips, quadriceps, back of the legs and lower back, to help to guide you into a very soft Savasana. Resting quietly, here you are sensing the body, mind, breath connections you have created.
This is Series 1 of the Go with the Flow, Vinyasa Flow Yoga for body, mind and soul courses here at Udemy. Delivered by Certified Yoga instructor; Niamh Condron, the course consists of three, one hour long, Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes. These three classes may be repeated twice each, before moving onto the next class, or, each class may be taken sequentially, one after the other. On completion of your 3 classes, you will receive a course Certificate. This certificate acknowledges your efforts and willingness to partake in, and successfully commit to, learning how to connect your body and mind to your breath, for optimal health.
What will you learn?
During the Go with the Flow course you will learn how to move your body safely to gain strength, without unnecessary tensions. With detail to alignment and posture placement, you will be taught a variety of Yoga asanas and movement sequences. Yoga asanas are the postures and actions that, when linked together in a smart, continuous succession, can tone muscle groups and create mobility and flexibility.
You will learn how to let go of stress and become present in the moment that is, without being distracted by past events or future to-do lists. These three classes will engage you in such a way that your thoughts will soften and become still. Together, we are creating relaxation where once there may have been pressure.
You will discover how to unite the inner movement of your deep breath with the movement of your body, to learn how to enliven and invigorate your source of intrinsic energy, called Prana.
What will you gain?
The Vinyasa Flow Yoga exercises improve circulation and cleanse the body of toxins. Remember to drink plenty of water as you go along. The asanas we will practice together alleviate depression and have a calming effect on the mind. If you can, try to relax peacefully in silence after each class for 5 or 10 minutes before returning to your day.
The classes are uplifting, with a feel good factor, and will elevate your mood and boost your energy levels.
Prana is a flow of energy in your body, this energy will flow freely during your the Go with the Flow classes, and by doing so, it will help to stimulate balance in your body. You will feel there is an equilibrium within.
The Prana you will cultivate will heal and nourish your body on a cellular level.
What do you need?
A Yoga mat or a floor space that is not slippy. Have a Yoga block with you, and a Yoga strap. If you do not have these, try using one or two books stacked together in place of the block, and a towel in place of the strap. A little water to refresh.
We are ready!
Together, let's shape our bodies and mind for our future!
See you on the mat dear friend.
Namaste,
- Niamh
