Git Learning Journey - Guide to Learn Git (Version Control)
What you'll learn
- Git Version Control
- Version Control
- Distributed Version Control
- A desire to understand Git!
The 3️⃣ main goals of this course are to:
Build a mental model of Git (version control) ✅
Provide simple explanations ✅
Make how Git works tangible ✅
In this course I explain the basics of Git (version control) in a visual and simple manner.
I cover some of the basics of GitHub.
I introduce one concept at a time and build from the beginning to the end incrementally.
I introduce every new term so that beginners and more experienced folk can follow the course alike!
I want to make sure everyone can get as much out of this course as possible.
So in order to align expectations with reality let me share what this course is not:
This course is not about how Git is used in big companies ❌
This course is not an advanced guide to Git ❌
This course does not teach you how to code ❌
Who this course is for:
Beginner developers with non-technical backgrounds
Coding bootcamp students
Experienced coders wanting a Git refresher
If you find other resources teaching Git too complicated or too advanced then this course if for you! The main innovation in this course is that in order to refer to commits I use color as a metaphor. This makes the learning experience a lot easier to digest!

Hi, I’m Anna (-:
I've worked in tech as a UX designer, frontend developer and now I work as a technical writer at a fintech company called Mambu.
But, when I started my first job as a frontend dev I held my breath with fear whenever I had to do anything (I deemed) complicated using Git (half the time believing I was going to destroy the entire repository).
And I realised I needed to master it if I was going to continue with confidence on my coding journey.
So I started my Git learning journey...
Often finding the material I came across didn't explain things in a way that made sense to me.
I decided to set out and create the kind of online course I would have liked to have found.
Et voila! I hope this course helps you on your Git learning journey!
