Description

This video series is a concise jump start into Power BI.


Over seven days we run through all that is needed to start using Power BI.

Day 1 : An introduction to the environment describing the different tools used to

create our reports and the roles they play.

We then look at how to download the free desktop environment.

We also look at the data for our sample model, "The Big Baker".

Day 2 : The Query editor. We run through the basics of preparing data for use in our data model. We look at the basics of creating an Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) process.

Day 3 : Tables and Data Relationships. Extending our work with the query editor we enhance our tables and create table relationships. We look at different schema types and Microsoft recommended approach to schema design.

Day 4 : Dax Functions. We add functionality to be used in visuals with Measures and additional column functions. We look at common Dax functions including Date, Filter and Logic functions.

Day 5 : The report view. We create a basic Summary Report Page.

We do a rapid build of a Sales summary page that includes common visuals and then run through positioning and formatting them.

Day 6 : The report view. We continue developing our Sale report with the use of buttons and drill-throughs.

Day 7 : The Power BI Service. We look at publishing to and using the Power BI online service. We create a dashboard and look at other key features of the service.
