So sit back, relax, grab your beverage of choice and here we go!
Can you manage for a day without your smartphone? I don't know about you but I would feel a little confused and uneasy as I depend on my phone for a whole host of things:
I use it to navigate my way around London, manage my calendar, all my communication, i book events with it,
catch up on my reading, in fact my work depends on it.
It's transformed the way I live and work over the last 10 years. And I'm willing to bet it has transformed
yours in some way, too?
We'll be looking at mobile usage trends in the UK, also comparing smartphone usage across the different
demographic groups here in the UK. Please bear in mind these stats don't include all time spent on mobile
devices when conducting purely work related tasks. If they do I'm sure the figures will be even more stark
How will this affect you as a business owner? If you run a business that depends on mobile savvy consumers
buying your products or services, then it literally pays for you to be able to grab a share of their attention
on their smartphones
If you're a startup or a small business owner, chances are that you have a modest marketing budget
You would want to be able to make the right marketing decisions for your business and ensure your budget is well spent, that you're able to see some results from your marketing spend. Would that be fair to say?
Well hopefully I'm going to be able to help you out here.
We'll be discussing where websites and mobile apps fit into your marketing mix, marketing differences between apps and websites, and an insight into when consumers use apps or websites, and what they use each of these 2 marketing channels for. Food for thought when you consider your customer's journey from the time they start researching ideas, creating an intention to buy to checking out your business offering and engaging with you.
Finally I'll discuss where you can prioritise your marketing spend based on your business needs at that point in time
This module is split into 2 parts.
In the first part, we are going to talk about online consumer buying behaviour, using a piece of fascinating research from Salesforce
We'll learn about the channels or touchpoints which influence consumers' decisions when it comes to researching and buying
a product. In other words we have an insight into the typical customer journey here
This will help you decide if and how your customers will be using an app to engage with your business
I'll also discuss the 3Cs - 3 basic ingredients which ideally needs to be there for your app to succeed.
In the 2nd part of this module, we'll explore 3 effective ways where you can engage with your app users to keep them coming back
Here I'm focussed on the benefits not the features of the app that will help you engage with your users. If you're interested in learning more about some of the app functionalities / features that we can offer and how they work, these features will be demonstrated in a separate course. So do get in touch with me if you'd like to know more about it
I will however, as an example, illustrate a really cool powerful marketing feature we offer that will get you more traffic to your Website, your landing page or your Facebook business page. So stay tuned !
This is a big topic. The success of your app depends on how you take it to market and how you keep your users interested in the app.
It doesn't matter if you've spent £100,000 or £1,000 to build your app, if you don't invest time and some money into launching and marketing it, it's not going to work. Many startups and established businesses would spend a lot of time pondering over the design and development of the app but not enough time thinking about marketing or they just assume because the app they've created is brilliant, people will download it just because it's there
In the UK, consumers have an average of 90 apps installed on their smartphones but use less than half of these apps. So how do you compete for attention with these other apps on your customers' smartphones?
In general, app users do spend more time on an app compared to they would with a website so once you've captured your user's attention and you've given them a good reason to keep coming back to your app, you are off to a decent start
We'll be discussing the things you can do to make your app project a success and we'll also explore a successful launch with TEDxKingston for one of their flagship events
Assuming you've built an app, you've now launched it and have a marketing plan in place, you can't wait to see it bring you success.
Before you do so, you would need to know what you wish to achieve with the app - is it to build awareness of your business, or do you wish to attract more local people into your restaurant especially during less busy periods of the week? Or maybyou want a way of getting your customers to book appointments with you quickly and easily?
It'll be great if you can achieve as many goals of your markeitng goals as possible, but chances are you will need to focus on 1-2 goals at a time, in order to succeed
We'll be discussing some trackable goals here and the sort of app metrics you can use to measure success of your app marketing.
You would have heard or read about apps that were launched with much fanfare, but simply fizzled out and forgotten.
There are a few reasons why this happens and I'll be addressing them too.
Now that we've come to the final module of this course, I'll also be providing you with a checklist - this is my step by step 90 day plan to research, plan, design and develop, publish, launch and market your B2C app
There's loads to do but you're not alone there. I'd love to know how you get on, and if you've found this course helpful!
For this reason, I have included a bonus webinar at the end to let you know where you can keep in touch, share your marketing experience and let me know if you have any questions along the way.
So don't go away, download the checklist and do watch till the end for the bonus teach!
Dear Udemy Student
Small businesses and startups with limited resources often struggle with their app project, or experienced inadequate customer service from vendors who do a great sales pitch but don't deliver, who overcharge or don't provide the app marketing support businesses need to ensure their investment pays off.
This course helps you avoid all of that stress and may even save you some hard earned money!
I've created this course for anyone who's planning on investing in an app with the hope that they'll gain an understanding of app marketing basics BEFORE they make that investment, not AFTER. If you're following this course, I hope this will help you make an informed decision on your marketing investment.
We've been developing Small Business Apps since 2013, have worked with many businesses from different industry sectors and therefore have experienced, first hand, both the challenges and sucesses of introducing apps into an organisation.
This course has been offered to you free of charge. We hope you'll find it useful.
Please don't forget to leave us a review when you do and look out for my next course on Udemy!
To your App Marketing Success!
