Bonjour et bienvenue in our first Module of the Conjugaison chapter:
Les Généralités
In these videos we will be understanding : -qu’est-ce que c’est? what is it?
And how does it work? Explaining the accord or agreement sujet/verbe
We will learn about the infinitifs and the négation
and will explore how to ask questions, before studying 3 different type of verbs :
-le verbes pronominaux, the “se” verbs
- les verbes impersonnels (il faut que, il est possible que…)
- et les verbes modaux (to be able to, to want to, to have to)
finally you will be able to test yourself in the quiz! and check what you have learnt!
Don’t forget to download the Généralité’s material, to follow me,
à tout de suite dans mes vidéos!
This video will give you a overall explanation of what we will discover throughout this Conjugaison chapter.
In this vidéo you will build your foundation knowledge on
La Conjugaison. For this we will start by asking ourselves
Qu’est-ce que c’est ? What is La conjugaison française?
Dans cette vidéo we will learn about l’accord sujet / verbe
Qu’est-ce que c’est ? What is it ?
We are going to learn the different subject pronouns and discover what ending we need for each person(or each subject) and for each tense.
I will give you lots of logical rules and patterns to help you memorise them all.
You will learn how to build our French verbs, just like a puzzle!
Dans cette leçon, you will find out what un infinitif is and why they are so important in the French Conjugation.
In this lesson, you will learn how to make something negative in French.
We will have a look at Qu’est-ce que c’est ? What is La négation ? understanding what makes a sentence positive or negative, before learning how to do it in French.
I will also go through few mistakes to avoid and examples.
This lesson is just in addition to the previous one.
Just like in English, French uses other forms to express negation thoughts.
If NE ... PAS is the equivalent to your NOT, here we will learn how to say never, or no more, no one.....
In this vidéo you will build your skills on questions, understanding the different type of questions you can come across but as importantly, helping you recognise them so you are able to give the appropriate answer.
In this lesson I will highlight how to ask questions in a 2-verb structures sentence.
As you will understand in these scenarios you will not only have 1 but 2 verbs and the idea is to know how to build your question around them.
In this video we will understand how to ask question using the interrogative adjective QUEL, corresponding to WHICH or WHAT.
In this video you will find out about Les verbes pronominaux or reflexive verbs ("se" verbs).
Qu’est-ce que c’est ? What are these reflexive verbs? and when and how to use them.
In this vidéo you will understand what French impersonal verbs are and how they work.
Qu’est-ce que c’est ? what is un verbe impersonnel ? we also see how and when to use them.
This video will tell you all you need to know to understand and be able to use with confidence, the French modal verbs.
Bonjour et bienvenue in our second Module of the Conjugaison chapter:
Le Présent
In these videos we will explore what it is and how it works?,
we will learn about the crucial verbs avoir (to have) et être (to be) also called les auxiliaires
and we will have a look at two additional important verbs aller (to go) et faire (to do or make) before going through other irregulars verbs, as well as les verbes modaux (to want to / to have to /and to be able to)
Finally we will learn about a special structure Être en train de …….. (to be in the process of….).
You will then be able to check your knowledge with the appropriate quiz.
Don’t forget to download the Présent’s material, to follow me,
à tout de suite dans ma prochaine vidéo!
Dans cette vidéo, we will learn, what is the présent (qu'est-ce que c'est?) and how does it work? (comment ça fonctionne?).
We will understand how to build our French present forms, for different types of verbs and how to recognise and translate them.
This lesson will guide you though the 2 most crucial verbs in any language ÊTRE (to be) and AVOIR (to have), also called auxiliaries in French.
I will explain how they do their present, as you will need to know them by heart since we use them constantly.
Knowing the present form, of these two verbs will allow you, to use them at present of course, but also to build other tenses. They are considered as being auxiliaries as they help us create other tenses and verb forms, such as le Passé Composé that we will explore in Module 3, but also Le Futur Proche, which will be exploring in Module 4 and other special expression, or type of verbs such as les verbes impersonnels that we have seen in Module 1….
So if there was, one only thing, you had to know in French , this will be ETRE et AVOIR au présent.
Now, that you are mastering the present of the irregular AND two most important verbs ÊTRE (to be) and AVOIR and (to have), let's have a look at the two other most used French verbs ALLER (to go) & FAIRE (to do / to make). We will see what their present forms are and what similarities they have with the two auxiliaries (Être and Avoir).
In this lesson we will carry on studying le présent and will have a look at more irregular verbs.
As we have seen previously, their irregularity is somehow regular....
In this other lesson on Le Présent, we will be finding out about Modal verbs (POUVOIR (to be able to), VOULOIR (to want to) & DEVOIR ( to have to).
You will understand when and how to use them.
In this final lesson on present tense, I will talk you through ,a special structure using the present and allowing you to speak about an action, you are in the process of doing: ÊTRE + EN TRAIN DE + infinitif.
Bonjour et bienvenue in your third Module of the Conjugaison chapter:
Le Passé, The Past
In these videos you will be learning about: 3 tenses
l’Imparfait, Le Passé composé and Le Plus-que-Parfait, always starting with our qu’est-ce que c’est and how it works question before getting into more details.
We will then have a look at 2 special structures expressing or using past tenses such as the Après avoir ou Après être construction Corresponding to After having done something…. In English
and finally the structure Venir de + infinitif to express something you have just done….
This Module is very important so please do have a go at the quizzes.
I have made one per tense and a mixed one so you can test your new skills for each lesson. And as usual, don’t forget to download the Passé’s material, to follow along
à tout de suite dans ma prochaine vidéo!
The French Imperfect is one of the most important Past tense you need to know, recognise and use for your GCSE. I have divided this topic over 2 lessons. This is your first lesson explaining when and how to use it. The second lesson will be on important verbs.
Now, you are an expert on the imparfait tense, and understand how to use it and make it in French, I would like to now guide you through the crucial verbs and mistake to avoid! I will start by showing you how Être (to be) the most and only irregular verb for this tense works, but will also give you a list of regular but very important verbs and a little tip on remembering some key point for this tense.
This lesson is very important as it will tell you everything you need to know about Le Passé Composé, one of the most important tense for your GCSE. For this reason, I have decided to create few videos so it isn’t too comprehensive at a time, and you can chose the lesson you need according to where you are, with regard to this tense or what you need to remind yourself about. We will start by asking ourselves, our usual Qu’est-ce que c’est? question, What is le Passé-Composé?
Before finding out about when to use it as opposed to using the imparfait tense as well as, of course how to make it, going through the regular and irregular verbs.
This video will give you more understanding on how to use the auxiliaries, AVOIR (to have) or ÊTRE (to be) at the Passé Composé tense, so you can use it with confidence. Le passé compose as the words describe is a 2 verb structure including the auxiliary ETRE or AVOIR at their present tense. But how will you know which one to chose? Être or Avoir?
I will also guide through how to express the French negation and ask questions, when using le Passé Composé.
This video is dedicated to the third Past tense you have to recognise and understand for your GCSE: the French Pluperfect. As usual I will explain Qu’est-ce que c’est? What is the Plus-que-Parfait, how it works and when to use it.
Dans cette vidéo, I will explain, one of the two structures you need to know and recognise for your CGSE, how to express the idea of “after having done something”. Once again, knowing how works, the Passé composé (seen in lesson 2 of this Module) will help you immensely since you will use the same structure and logic.
This is our final lesson of this comprehensive Passé chapter, where we will be covering the second and last special structure you have to know for your GCSE, expressing the past: “venir de + infinitive”. We will understand, what is this structure all about? Qu'est-ce que c'est? and how and when to use it.
Bonjour et bienvenue in your fourth Module of the Conjugaison chapter:
Le Futur
In these videos we will be asking ourselves: qu’est-ce que c’est What is the Future and how it works before going into details with learning the 2 tenses you need for GCSE
- le futur proche
- et le futur (simple)
- Finally we will have a look at our special structure:
Quand + Future
This Module is important but also very straight forward. Try yourself on the quiz and you will see
it is easy!
Don’t forget to download the Futur’s material, to follow me,
à tout de suite dans ma prochaine vidéo!
The next videos will be all about the future, which corresponds to any action that did not happen yet or anything happening, after the moment you are speaking.
Comment ça marche? How does the future work?
In this video we will be learning about le futur proche or near future, expressing an action, about to happen, after the time you are speaking, or an action planned in the future.
I will explain, Comment ça marche? How does it work ? and of course how to use it with and without negation in French.
This video is dedicated to le futur simple or Will- future, as you call it in English, which kind of answers, our usual question, Qu’est-ce que c’est? What is the Future simple? but we will go through it step by step, understanding how regular and irregular verbs work and when to use it as opposed to the Near future.
This lesson, is our Final lesson of our Module 4; Le Futur. Where I will help you understand how to use a special structure using “Quand” or "when", to express the Future, so you can show your fluency and impress your examiner. This structure is very simple, but slightly different to the English one. So let's understand how it works in French! and you can start using it from today.
Bonjour et bienvenue, in my fifth Module of the Conjugaison chapter:
Le Conditionnel
In these videos
you will be understanding:
- qu’est-ce que c’est ? and how does it work
Students studying for Higher Tier will find a list of irregular verbs
And you will find a page on mistakes to avoid again.
Have a go at checking your skills in the Conditionnel quiz but also the mixed tenses quiz you can find at the end of the conjugaison Chapter.
Don’t forget to download the Conditionnel’s material, to follow me,
à tout de suite dans ma prochaine vidéo!
This lesson is dedicated to the conditional, which isn't difficult at all once you have a good understanding of it. We will learn about what it is, Qu’est-ce que c’est? before seeing how to make it and when to use it.
And in order for you not to mix it with other tenses, I have created a "mistakes to avoid" document.
Bonjour et bienvenue in my sixth Module of the Conjugaison chapter:
Les Autres formes et special structures
In these videos we will be exploring:
* 4 special forms of the verbs you need to know for your GCSE:
- Le subjonctif, (for Higher Tier students)
- Le participe présent, and gérondif (for Higher Tier students)
- L’impératif,
- La forme passive
we will also have a look at
*2 special structures

and Depuis + Imparfait (for Higher Tier students)
- The si-Clauses
This Module will provide you with a lot of extra options to show your French skills which will raise your chance to have higher marks.
Find out if you are ready by testing yourself in the different quizzes!!
Don’t forget to download the autres formes et sructures spéciales ’s material, to follow me,
à tout de suite dans ma prochaine vidéo!
Today we will go through, one "extra form of the verb", Higher Tier students are expected to recognise and if possible use for your GCSE: le subjonctif. We will understand what it is ,“Qu’est-ce que c’est? and how and when to use it.
This video is dedicated to another "special form of the verb", recommended for your GCSE, La Forme Passive.
We will go through the usual question Qu’est-ce que c’est? What is la forme passive ? and will learn how to use it with or without negation and at different tenses. It is just like in English and you will find a lot of examples in the lesson.
In this lesson we will learn about the imperative, one of your "extra form of the verb" you should be able to recognise for your GCSE. We will have a look at what it is before learning how to make it.
In this video, I will guide you through your last Conjugaison form requested in your curriculum, the present participle et gérondif. I will explain qu’est-ce que c’est, what it is, and how to make it, so you can use it and show your fluency. (for Higher Tier students)
These next videos are dedicated to the two extra structures, using mix tenses, you must be able to recognise and understand for your GCSE: The Depuis structure indicating, a situation, in relation with the time and, the Si-Clause structure involving two tenses, corresponding to your If/then structure in English.
In this first video, we will concentrate on the “Depuis structure including the present tense" concerning both Foundation and Higher Tier students.
This video is dedicated to Higher Tier students, as we will be going through the other structure using Depuis: Depuis + imparfait, instead of the Depuis + present structure seen previously. (please view the Depuis =present first if you didn’t see it yet).
Here we are, our last Conjugaison lesson, where we will understand what Si-Clauses are? Qu’est-ce que c’est? and how they work? So you can easily use them and raise your chances to get higher marks. So what are these “Si clauses”?
Bonjour et bienvenue in my seventh and last Module of the Conjugaison chapter:
Recap. Module
In this video we will be summarising everything you’ve learnt in this CONJUGAISON chapter.

Bravo,
You’ve done so well!!
Do download the recap material and keep them as flash cards!!
à tout de suite ... dans ma dernière Conjugaison vidéo!
Bonjour et bienvenue to our first Module of the Grammaire chapter: Les Généralités
In these videos you will be learning about: -qu’est-ce que c’est? what is La Grammaire?
but we will also see how does it work? understanding the importance of the gender (masculin, féminin) and number (singulier et pluriel) and how everything should agree together following the accord or agreement rule.
Don’t forget to download the Généralité’s material, to follow along with me,
à tout de suite dans ma prochaine vidéo!
Bonjour et bienvenue to our second Module of the Grammaire chapter:
Les noms et les articles
In these videos, we will be answering: -qu’est-ce que c’est What is a noun and what is an article? and How do they work?
We will have a closer look at each of these two kind of words to understand why they are so important. Don’t forget the quiz so you can check what you have learnt! And do download the Noms et articles’ material, to follow along with me.
à tout de suite dans ma prochaine vidéo!
Today we will determine what are les noms et les articles (Qu’est-ce-que c’est) and how do they work?
Comment ils fonctionnent? (How do they work?) and why are they so important to understand. I will give you the two first French Grammar rules, how to make a noun feminine and how to make a noun plural.
Ça y est, tu es prèt(e) ? Are you ready to learn the other ways of making nouns feminine.
Let's go! C'est parti! The rule we will explore here will concern nouns referring to living creatures (such as animal and people’s jobs, nationalities or again relationship…..).
The rule will depend on how the masculine version end. Let's understand better in the lesson.
This video is in addition to the nouns’ lesson but as both are quite comprehensive I though it will be best to separate them.
So as we have learnt in our previous lesson on nouns, everything is masculine or feminine and again singulier ou pluriel.
Nouns are always paired with an article, it is very rare to see them separately, and for this reason the articles will have to follow the noun rule of feminine and plural. See the lesson for more details.
Here is a little lesson on the article contraction. In this video we will learn Qu’est-ce que c’est? What are these contractions? and how and when to use them ? Comment et quand?
This lesson will give you all the rules and explanation you need to use these contraction with confidence.
