You will be introduced to GAMS environment and you will learn what is an optimization and will be able to do basic optimization programming in GAMS.
You will learn to generate tables and parameters in GAMS, import data from a text file, do linear optimization coding in GAMS (for energy consumption of a house).
You will learn to generate two and three dimensional tables, import data from an excel file, draw figures in GAMS, do mixed-integer linear modeling and optimization in GAMS.
You will learn to do nonlinear and mixed-integer nonlinear programming and optimization in GAMS, will learn about GAMS options.
GAMS (General Algebraic Modeling System) is a modeling software that you can model various optimization problems in it and find the optimal solution using diverse optimization solvers such as CPLEX, SBB, BARON and etc. This software is basically a collection of solvers all in one place.
In this tutorial, you will learn to do mathematical optimization programming in GAMS (General Algebraic Modeling System) software including linear, mixed-integer linear, nonlinear and mixed-integer nonlinear programming. You will learn to import and export data from/ to text or excel files, draw 2D and 3D tables, draw various plots and work with GAMS options. By the end of this course, you will know what each GAMS error means. Basic optimization definition is covered as well. This course is useful for people from all fields such as industrial engineering, electrical engineering, energy systems, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and etc.
No pervious knowledge of optimization is needed. The participants should only be familiar with general coding and coding environment. The instructor attempted to teach this course in a way that it could be useful for people with various levels and from different backgrounds. The topics covered are beginner to advanced intermediate. Very advanced topics, which are usually field-specific, are not covered in this course.
