This brief explanation shows what you will learn in this course and what you won't. It also explains why this is a course with few lessons.
In this lesson you will learn why a storyboard is highly recommended in any e-learning project, along with some tips on how to do it.
As part of developing a lesson in Captivate, using a vector software such as Illustrator is almost indispensable. In this lesson we explore a few basic tools to get you up and running fast. If you are already used to working in Illustrator, you migh want to skip this lesson.
Learn how to work with different Illustrator tools like the pathfinder, alignment, navigator, layers, color and borders. Here we will produce the avatar that will be used in the game-like simulation.
In this lesson, you will learn how to publish your Illustrator images so that you can use them inside Captivate or any other tools.
Learn some extra tools to help you when developing your e-learning content.
Here we start our first game-like simulation of this course. As with any Captivate project, we first need to establish the Master slides in which we will place the content.
This lesson deals with the first part of the simulator. It serves as the activity's introduction, so the user knows what is about to happen.
This lesson shows some extra tips for adding effects to objects, so you can further enhance your presentations.
This time we will use animation effects and motion paths to animate the lobby, where the user will choose the rooms that need cleaning. This part helps setup the idea that we are actually inside a hotel and about to practice the common tasks of a hotel maid.
Here we will learn how to make clic areas custom designed for each door, to enhance the user experience. These will serve as navigation buttons and by the end of the lesson we check that they work properly.
This time we will learn how to register, keep and update the user score. The lesson does not focus on the simulator, but rather explains in general terms how to use variables to keep score of the user's decisions.
By the end of this lesson, you will learn how to allow the user to make selections in each room and keep score depending on each selection.
In this lesson you will learn how to disable items that the user has already checked. We will use variables and advanced actions for this task.
In a very similar way to what we did in the disable items lesson, we continue now disabling the entire room, so that the user can no longer enter a room that has been checked. This way, the user can not add more points to the score.
After setting up items and rooms, we now move on to setup the results slide. This will show the score of the simulator and a custom message that changes depending on the score.
This video explains in what the activity is about. Then you will learn how to configure the selection buttons and their actions.
In this lesson we will setup the points variable so that each button adds points to the score. You will also learn to show specific results depending on the user's score.
Here we will learn how to show or hide the avatar, depending on the users' selection at the start of the activity.
In this final video for the second activity, I will explain how to reset the points variable and restart the lesson, so the user can answer as many times as they like.
In this course you will learn to use variables and advanced actions along with timing and animations that help enhance the user experience. This course is not intended to teach you how to make videogames. It will give you tools to design your own simulations that include game elements like points, levels and achievements.
This course does not teach how to make video games. It does not explain how to code or publish video games.
Its main topic is designing e-learning lessons that incorporate game like elements, such as points, levels, rewards and/ or character selection to be used during your course/ lessons.
Some basic topics on Illustrator are covered, such as layers, the pen tool, pathfinder, alignment and brief tips on publishing files in Illustrator so that you can use them in Captivate.
