Fundamentals of Communication Sciences

This course covers all the subject areas where telecommunication technology student should be competent such as, Electronics, mobile communication, broadband technology, satellite communication, networking etc. Public and private telecommunication networks will be examined. Telecommunication equipment, switching and transmission technology will be demonstrated. The frequency spectrum, modulation schemes and multiplexing techniques will be explored. This course provides an introduction to the principles & techniques of design, implementation, and analysis of communication networks which is the key technology for the modern ICT systems. Topics include: basis of voice, video, data and internet communications. network topologies, architecture. switching techniques, network design, basic queuing analysis, protocols. local and wide area networks, cellular wireless networks.

Science in Telecommunications and Information Engineering aims to provide students with sound practical and theoretical training in telecommunications and information engineering. It is designed to build the capacity and meet the growing demand for qualified personnel as well as to facilitate research, design, development and production of new ideas and products in this field. Telecommunications and information engineering deal with large-scale and extensive data networks, like the internet, facsimile, email, video/data and other systems and devices that represent, store and transmit both analog and digital information. This includes data transmission, equipment, customer access technology, analog and digital television and radio systems, global navigation, satellite communications, mobile communications and remote sensing/telemetry systems.
