Master html5, css3, javascript, and php through hands-on projects designed for beginners. Build frontend and backend skills to create responsive, fully functional websites with code-along practice and real-world projects.
By the end of this module, you’ll:
Understand what PHP is and why it’s essential for backend development
Install and configure XAMPP, the easiest way to run PHP locally
Write your first PHP script and test it on your browser
You'll be able to run HTML5, JavaScript on the browser
Example:
When you click a button to open a dropdown menu or submit a form that instantly shows a success message — that’s all happening on the client-side.
In short, the client-side is what users see and interact with directly.
What is the Server-Side?
The server-side is everything that happens behind the scenes — on the web server.
When the client (browser) makes a request — like logging in, signing up, or fetching product data — the server processes the request, interacts with a database, and sends a response back to the browser.
Server-side technologies include:
PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor): Handles logic, authentication, data processing, and dynamic content generation.
Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.): Store data like user information, blog posts, or product listings.
Example:
When you log in to your account, the browser sends your username and password to the server.
The server checks if your credentials are correct, then sends back a response — “Login Successful” or “Invalid Password.”
That whole process is server-side.
? How Client-Side and Server-Side Work Together
Think of it like a restaurant ?️:
The client (you) places an order through the menu (browser).
The server (kitchen) prepares the food (data, logic) and sends it back.
The waiter (HTTP request/response) carries the order between the two.
Together, they make the web work seamlessly.
Explore web development basics by defining websites as linked pages built with HTML, CSS, and PHP, and contrast static and dynamic sites, with notes on Django and WordPress.
Explore the fundamentals of web design, balancing visual appeal and usability with color, typography, navigation, and layout, while mastering HTML, CSS, UX, UI, and tools like Figma and Bootstrap.
Explore how an HTML element serves as a basic building block with a start tag, content, and end tag, and review the doctype, HTML root, head, title, and body structure.
Explore basic html tags that define a page’s structure, including opening and closing html, head, body, and the use of tags like title, h1–h6, p, a, br, and ul.
Explore how the abbreviation tag handles acronyms in headings, and see practical examples in HTML to apply the abbreviation tag alongside other tags.
Explore sub and sup tags in HTML, using superscript and subscript within headings to render expressions like water’s chemical formula H2O, and learn the power of HTML5 for web pages.
HTML doc comments are non executable notes that do not display on the page, cannot nest, and are placed between <!-- and --> to annotate structure for future developers.
Explore how a frameset divides a browser window into sections loading independent documents. See why the frame tag is deprecated and how iframe or div css achieve similar layouts.
Explore how HTML tables organize data in rows and columns with table, tr, td, and th, apply borders and CSS styling, and build clear product listings, pricing tables, and comparisons.
Explore common image formats used on the web, including GIF for animation, PNG and JPEG for web graphics, SVG for scalable visuals, and BMP and ICO, with guidance for beginners.
Embed images inside a paragraph using the img tag, check paths, and assign width and height, then use classes to improve layout.
Explore HTML and CSS commenting techniques, including multi-line and conditional comments for Internet Explorer, and apply comments in scripts and styles to control output.
Learn to create HTML forms to collect user data, configure inputs and labels, and submit via post to a server or PHP handler, with client-side validation and basic styling.
Explore how to set web typography with font size attributes ranging from 1 to 7, defaulting to 3, and customize font family and color while understanding fallbacks.
Explore HTML text formatting tags, distinguishing physical presentation tags from semantic logical tags, and apply bold, italic, sub, sup, blockquote, code, and more to improve readability and accessibility.
Demonstrate structuring a document with paragraphs. Use two paragraphs to form the main content, and show that the initial page can host as many words as needed on the webpage.
Explore checkbox input fields with labeled checkboxes, input type attributes, and values, and learn how to implement select dropdowns for choices.
Explore how to create a description list with a nested list, using rule 25 to define terms for a web page and structure content effectively.
Learn practical form validation by implementing required fields, password input constraints, minimum length, pattern checks, and a submit button to ensure valid user data.
Explore textarea input fields within a form, learn to mix text areas, dropdowns, and checkboxes, and capture user messages and basic input data in a web interface.
Discover how CSS syntax uses a selector to target an HTML element and a declaration block to set properties and values, including color, font-size, padding, and background.
Explore the CSS box model and its four parts—content, padding, border, and margin—and how they define space, clickable areas, and layout between elements.
Explore the box model by applying css display and position values such as block, inline, inline-block, grid, static, absolute, and sticky through practical examples.
Explore how colors influence web design using color names, hex codes, and rgb values for backgrounds, borders, and text, applying image styling via the style attribute with width and height.
Explore JavaScript basics to advanced concepts, including variables, data types, operators, functions, conditionals, loops, and arrays. Master DOM manipulation, events, and asynchronous patterns like callbacks, promises, async/await, and fetch API.
Explore practical string operator techniques and console logging in a full stack web development bootcamp, using the sample list and welcome messages to reinforce core concepts.
Learn how functions create reusable blocks of logic, enabling modular, clean, and debuggable code, illustrated by a temperature converter using a convert function, loops, and template literals.
Learn how to access data in an array of objects using dot notation and bracket notation, iterate through users, and output their names and ages with console.log.
Learn how to use objects to collect multiple values into an array and apply the rest operator for functions with unknown argument counts, illustrated with profiles and contacts.
