Description

Welcome to Play Your Cards Right.

Gambling harm is never just about gambling.
Behind every bet, there can be emotional distress, financial crisis, family conflict, shame, isolation, and missed opportunities for support.

That’s why From Causes to Care: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Gambling Intervention was created — a practical e-learning course designed for professionals working in mental health, social work, coaching, education, youth work, and community support.

This methodology was developed by a consortium of five organisations across four countries — Romania, Portugal, Spain, and Croatia — co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme. It was born from a simple but powerful observation: the people most affected by gambling-related harm are often falling through the gaps. Not because professionals do not care, but because they lack the tools, the language, and the shared frameworks to respond in a connected and confident way.

Through 5 interconnected chapters, you’ll explore:
- Psychoeducation & addiction mechanisms
- Financial coaching & stabilisation
- Community response & referral pathways
- Family dynamics & support
- Non-directive facilitation tools for reflective dialogue.

You’ll also learn the 8 core principles of stigma-sensitive, person-centred intervention — because effective support starts with understanding, dignity, and connection.

Whether you are already working with vulnerable groups or simply want better tools to support people affected by gambling-related harm, this course gives you practical frameworks you can immediately apply in real-life settings.

From causes to care — let’s build more connected, compassionate, and effective responses together.
