Adopt a core Upwork strategy: create content that attracts buyers and links to your profile. Start with one tactic, craft daily pitches, and tilt the algorithms in your favor.
I'd only been on Upwork a few months when it happened. Truthfully, I hadn’t had much luck. I spent a bunch of time filling out my profile, sent out a bunch of proposals, and waited for the clients to roll in.
Instead... nothing.
Had a similar experience?
Here's what I learned... I thought I already knew what to say on my profile and in my proposals. I figured I'd just tell people what I could do, how reliable I was, put some good stuff in my portfolio... and VOILA! Upwork would do the rest. I didn't realize what Upwork really is:
An algorithm.
And, that algorithm has rules. Play by them and Upwork will reward you with more clients than you know what to do with. Don't and it'll be crickets. No clients, no job invites, no responses to proposals. Nothing.
Anyway, I figured this out when I stumbled across a series of blog posts (now since deleted) from Upwork, itself, where they explained their matching algorithm, in detail. This was in the early days when sites like Upwork were trying to attract investors and new users. So, they were showing off how sophisticated their algorithm was.
Today, they'd never share this information. It'd make the algorithm too easy to game. A lot like how Google is so secretive about its search algorithm. But, for me, it was the keys to the kingdom.
The secret to how their entire matching algorithm worked.
And, how to game it. Nothing shady or immoral or illegal. But, it was the answers to the test and exactly what I needed to change about my profile AND my proposals to start getting clients.
It changed everything.
I immediately changed my profile and landed my first project. A $2,000 project.
And then another $2,000 project.
Then, a $3,000 project.
And another and another and another… on and on it went.
$12,428 in the first three months after discovering those blog posts.
And, it was the catalyst for the rest of my freelancing career. Anyway, it's years later now... I've mostly retired and I'm happy to share those keys with you. Keys that still very much unlock Upwork's algorithm. That's because its algorithm, at its core, can never change. It can get better at its core purpose, but it can't change it.
Once you understand what it is, you'll know how to make it bring you clients now... and forever.
So, this course is simple…
I show you what I learned that day and the changes I made that turned everything around for me. If you’re ready to make Upwork actually work for you, then enroll and let’s get started.
