Troubleshooting

I am using the Revit 2017 (student version). The problem is, when I am recording a lecture about Energy Settings, I couldn’t find the tool.

I've checked the User Interface settings: <<Energy Analysis and tools>> is checked.

And the panel appears as shown.

Actually, this issue related to the recent Revit 2017.1 update, Autodesk merged the old Energy Analysis with this new service called "Insight", which is cloud-based.

All what you need to do is, downloading a hotfix, which will be found at the downloadable materials, or at their Site.

Simply download, launch the executable, and restart Revit, then have fun!

To install an AutoCAD MEP product, right-clicking a downloadable package, select Run as administrator, product installation window appears, click Install, it will take a while to estimate the files to be installed in your PC.   

Pick your country, click I Accept, click Next.   

There are many packages to be installed, click the check box to specify which package you want.    

If I hover the mouse over the yellow triangle before Autodesk AutoCAD MEP 2017, a label text appears which has an indication that the AutoCAD MEP 2017 will be related to the AutoCAD 2017 and most of files will be copied in the same folder.   

Specify the content you want to install for AutoCAD MEP by clicking the arrow, remember to select the major contents you will use in your MEP projects. Click the checkbox if you want to change a library folder location, or you can leave it as default, the required space will be evaluated.   

Click Install, the duration of installation is depending on, how much files will be installed and speed of your PC. After the installation process, a completed window appears with a list of the successful and failed installed packages.    

The product profiles shortcuts on desktop are created.   

Click Finish to exit the window.   

An alter window appears, select Yes to restart immediately or No to restart later.   

After restarting, click the profile to open the product for the first time.   

Migrate Custom Settings window appears, because I installed an AutoCAD MEP 2016, this window regarding to migrate settings for both versions, select between migrate tools by clicking Select ALL or specify some tools by clicking the checkbox for each, click correct sign.    

Or you can click cross to exit the window without doing migrate.   

Another alert window appears, because I installed several apps for AutoCAD, I should specify which one will open DWG files, select if you want to make Plain AutoCAD to open DWG files or not, click your preferred option.   

Autodesk Licensing window appears, click Enter a Serial  Number, click Activate, enter Serial Number and Product Key, you can check your inbox for the keys, click Next.   

The product activated, click Finish to exit the window.   

And here we go, the AutoCAD MEP 2017 User Interface. Now you can start creating a new drawing to begin your project. You can see the Ribbon on the upper portion of the window, and tool palettes with contents depend on the profile I've opened. 

I’ve received issue like, “I don’t have templates and library in Revit software.”, “I cannot find Metric profile in AutoCAD MEP”, should I remove installed software, is this about breaking package, and so on.

The point here is, maybe your installation is interrupted, and you got incomplete files.

The solution is to reinstall the missing package.

From Programs and Features, search for the software.

From the list, select Autodesk AutoCAD MEP 2017 – English, then click Uninstall/Change option.

From the window, select Add or Remove Features.

Scroll to find the missing content, as shown, the available contents for MEP and Architecture. Check the contents you would like to be added.

If you have a different content, click Add Content, and select it to install.

Click Next. And the contents will be installed.

If you’re working on a project including images, you may need to install Raster Design.

Login your account, and search for AutoCAD Raster Design.

Select the release year, Operating System, and Language.

Serial number, Product Key and related information appear.

And you also receive email with these info.

Select whether to install or download.

If you don’t figure out which method to use, click help me to decide.

After downloading the package, it’s time to install the software.

Click Install.

Select your country. Check I Accept. Click Next.

Enter your Serial number and Product Key, if the keys are not true, a Red Cross will be displayed.

Click Next. If you need to change the destination of stored folder, click browse, otherwise, click Install.

After installation complete, a window appears with a list of the successful packages. Click Finish to exit the window.

The product profiles shortcuts are created upon AutoCAD apps that installed at your PC.

As shown, I have Raster Design on AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Mechanical and AutoCAD MEP.

Notice all apps have same release year.

Open raster design on Plain AutoCAD.

AutoCAD starts, create new drawing.

Raster Tools tab is added to ribbon.

Check AutoCAD Electrical. Raster Tools tab is added to ribbon as well.
