My first "ah-ha" moment in entrepreneurship was when I discovered that a copper penny is worth more than a penny. So I started sorting them and selling them.
I realized that regardless of the number of pennies I bought, I would never lose money. I learned that you must always minimize risk and loss as much as you can.
My 2nd and 3rd businesses failed because I infringed on trademark and copyright. I learned quickly at a young age that you cannot steal from others. Real money can only be made the hard way.
My 3rd business was buying and reselling computer screens and video games
Just by having better images and product presentation, I was able to sell my products for more.
When I was about to graduate, my wife and I decided that we should take a vacation to South America, something interesting happened.
I shipped out a clock to Amazon and I made my first sale.
I realized that I could be anywhere in the world and make money while traveling.
As I was back on my hunt for surplus stores, I saw that RadioShack was going out of business and selling everything at 90% off.
So for the next 2 years, I traveled all around the country and bought out all the RadioShacks and flipped them on Amazon.
Later on, I realized that I wanted to grow as a business person. So I became a wholesaler and did a ton of online arbitrage for Black Friday.
From Black Friday and Christmas, I was able to make over $30,000 just flipping stuff.
When I finally accumulated enough capital, I began my Amazon FBA private label journey.
I failed my first 7 products then came across the solar eclipse.
For the solar eclipse, I went through 50+ suppliers before I found one that sold real and safe glasses with the proper certifications.
I created an entire brand of solar eclipse glasses and launched over 100+ products.
We made paper glasses, telescope filters, goggles, maps, and much more!
We did 6 million dollars in 6 months.
