Description

"Foundation Biology" is an introductory course designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of core biological concepts, including the fundamental principles of cell structure and function, genetics, evolution, ecology, and the diversity of life. Through lectures, laboratory exercises, and discussions, students will develop a strong foundation in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and essential biological vocabulary, preparing them for further study in the life sciences.

THIS COURSE IS INTENDED FOR PURCHASE BY PARENTS OF THEIR WARDS AGED UNDER 18.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the basic characteristics of living organisms and the unifying themes of biology.

  • Describe the structure and function of cells, including organelles and cellular processes like metabolism and cell division.

  • Analyze the principles of genetics, including gene expression, inheritance patterns, and DNA structure.

  • Explore the mechanisms of evolution by natural selection and understand the concept of biodiversity.

  • Investigate the interactions between organisms and their environment within different ecosystems.

  • Apply scientific methods to analyze biological data and communicate findings effectively.

  • Course Content Include:

    • Introduction to Biology and Scientific Inquiry

    • Chemistry of Life

    • Cell Structure and Function

A cell biology course typically covers the structure, function, and behavior of cells, and how they interact with their environment. Topics  include:

      • Cell types: Animal and plant cells, prokaryotes, and eukaryotes

      • Cell structure: Organelles, membrane structure and function, and the chemical composition of cells.

      • THIS COURSE NEEDS AN INCLINATION FROM STUDENT'S END TO PREPARE FOR COMPETITIVE EXAM OVER AND ABOVE THEIR REGULAR SCHOOL/BOARD CURRICULUM. However, content pertinent to board curriculum has been integrated in this course.

      • Course Requirements: Desktop or laptop is recommended with audio from speaker or using earphones
