Description
Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a systematic, proactive method for evaluating a process to identify where and how it might fail and to assess the relative impact of different failures, in order to identify the parts of the process that are most in need of change. ‘Failure Modes’ are the different ways in which a system might malfunction and ‘Effect Analysis’ is the study of consequences of the failure. Failures are prioritized according to how serious their consequences are, how frequently they occur, and how easily they can be detected. The purpose of the FMEA is to take actions to eliminate or reduce failures, starting with the highest-priority ones.
This course will be valuable for any Formula Student participant enrolled within the Electric Vehicle category. The course is meant to empower student participants with the knowledge of understanding the purpose behind the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) documentation and furthermore, fulfilling the requirements towards the submission of the same.
This course has been designed by the organizers of the Formula Bharat competition. While participants are still required to ensure that their documentation aligns with the competition their team has registered for, the knowledge provided in this course will still be relevant.
Who this course is for:
- This course is specifically geared towards participants involved in the documentation process within the Formula Student Electric Vehicle category.
