Part 1 covers and introduction to lie detection. It discusses the concept of the human lie detector. It further examines your development as a lie detection professional. Obstacles to identifying and analysing deception are also covered. Factors like our own preconceptions, bias and understanding of logical behaviour are discussed as obstacles we face in the detection of deception. Part 1 further looks at the verbal and nonverbal flood of information we face as interviewers.
Summary of Part 1
Part 2 covers the concepts of timing and grouping as it relates to the detection of deception. It introduces the student to a model that can be effectively used to identify deception. This part forms the basis of the course upon which the other lessons rely.
Summary of Part 2
Part 3 covers how subjects can use truthful information to mask a lie. It teaches the interviewer how to identify these and how to deal with them
