I have been training, developing, and supporting travel health nurses and pharmacists for a large travel health company for over seven years. A large part of my work, and the area about which I am most passionate, is developing travel health training programs which involve both live courses and online learning. Having worked closely with many individual travel health professionals I have gained a good feel for the problems they face in understanding this vast subject, and developed solutions to facilitate a smoother learning process.
Having always had a passion for travel I have undertaken extended trips to North and South America, Europe and SE Asia. Combining this with a passion for health care I have managed, during my fourteen year nursing career, to work on a number of health projects in developing countries including running a health post in a remote part of Nepal, being an expedition medic in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and running rural clinics in central India.
In addition to my basic nursing qualification and a BSc (Hons) in Emergency Care, I hold the Diploma in Tropical Nursing from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the Diploma in Travel Medicine from the Royal Collage of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow where I am a Member of the Faculty of Travel Medicine.
