My name is Luisa from the Lulu Blue Studio and in this course, I will share all my advice on how to paint beautiful watercolor flower paintings, starting from flower and leaf placement, continuing onto layering techniques, and color palette selection.
Our first chapter is all about flower and leaf placement.
You will find that this concept will become the foundation of all of your floral compositions as you continue on your watercolor journey.
It's important to plan where to add flowers and leaves to give your flower compositions a good flow. You can take inspiration from your own pictures or others you find online.
So, let's dive into Chapter 1's video so I can teach you while showing you how I think about flower and leaves as I assess a new sheet of paper.
Adding layers to your flower compositions is important to give them movement and a more dynamic look.
In this lesson, I explain how you can add layers to your watercolor flower compositions by using two techniques: wet-in-wet and wet-in-dry techniques.
It is up to you to decide how many layers you would like to build onto flowers and leaves, but with these tips you'll understand the potential that this process can bring to your watercolor compositions.
Let's dive into Chapter 2 and let's add layers to our flowers and leaves!
In this lesson, I share my approach when I have to choose colors for a warm and a cold color palette. I also share how I mix colors in order to obtain flower compositions that look beautiful and cohesive all together.
These tips will really allow you to approach watercolor flower painting in a new, fun way. Your creativity will be unlocked!
Now, let's start Chapter 3!
Chapter 4 is all about putting all of our previous lessons to the test with developing full compositions from scratch.
This chapter contains two lessons because I feel there is so much I want to share with you to bring the best results to your flower compositions!
In the first lesson we are going to paint a flower bouquet with warm colors. I am going to dive into composition tips, but I will also highlight topics that we have discussed on the previous lessons.
Are you ready? Chapter 4 - Part 1 starts now!
In Chapter 4 - Part 2, I am going to paint a flower composition of peonies and filling flowers with cool colors.
Besides adding composition tips, I am also going to share insights on other supplies you can use to switch up your painting process and how to make a watercolor flower composition look cohesive thanks to color and flower placement.
It's time to dive into part two of this lesson. Let's start!
Chapter 5 is all about having fun while painting, where we can apply all of the learnings from the previous lessons.
In this chapter, we are going to paint 3 complete watercolor flower compositions, all with different colors, flows, and details.
The first painting is a flower bouquet with warm, vibrant colors.
Are you ready to start? Here is Chapter 5 - Part 1!
In the second painting of Chapter 5, we are going to paint something creative and unconventional.
I am going to guide you through the mixing of colors to obtain unique color blends and we are going to practice the layering technique in different ways to enhance the shapes and details of these flowers.
Every brush stroke in watercolor counts and in this lesson we are going to see why!
Let's start Chapter 5 - Part 2!
The fun continues as we paint our last watercolor flower composition of this course!
In this lesson, we are going to adapt all of the learnings of this course to these flowers.
We are going to talk about flower and leaf placement, color palette, layering effects, tips on compositions, and the best supplies to obtain different effects.
Let's paint these watercolor flowers together in Chapter 5 - Part 3!
I hope this course gives you more confidence to now grab your watercolor supplies and start painting beautiful flower compositions!
