Currently there are psychological first aid which is used in the treatment of  people who have the potential to develop into post traumatic stress disorder. Let as get something straight, first aid is not medical treatment so its always better to ensure that after the first aid application,  the affected person should be sent to a medical facility.

What l have observe in most first aid that l have personally down to people is that in most critical situations their breathing is not the best so in most cases of first aid its very important to check that the patient is breathing properly and the airways is also not being obstructed and the passage of air is allowed through the open mouth or uncongested nose, down through the pharynx and into the lungs.
