Description

The course covers the essentials of fire prevention and detection techniques that must be adopted to ensure that the workplace is not at risk of a fire. The course goes further into aspects of Fire Safety that address carrying out a Fire Risk Assessment, Establishing a Fire emergency plan and use of Fire protection equipment, etc. The course explains in details the classification of fire according to the International Organisation for Standards (ISO) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). It also covers the different extinguishers that are appropriate for use to combat the different fire classes.

The course includes discussions on the Theory of Fire, The fire triangle, Current legislation of Fire, Identifying the Causes of Fire and Fire Fighting Equipment. The course also includes discussions on Establishing a Fire and Emergency Plan, Carrying out a Fire Risk Assessment, Fire protection; Fire Alarm, Fire Fighting Equipment, Fire Control of Buildings as well as Fire Escape Routes and Fire Emergency Escape Plan & Procedure

In this course participants will also learn about the different arrangements for fire protection as stipulated in the relevant regulations to determine how emergency planning should be carried out in the workplace. It examines other aspects of the fire safety regulation to include requirements for training, fire brigades, selection and distribution of fire fighting equipment and the inspection, maintenance and testing of fire fighting equipment amongst others.

The course contains case studies, additional explanatory videos, quizzes, further study materials and a detailed guidance document for determining the approach to establishing a fire protection program in the workplace.
