- Before taking this course, you should already know how to play the C, A , G, E and D major chords. Some familiarity with Em, Am and F would also be helpful!
Description
This course has been designed from the ground up to teach you proper technique for fingerstyle guitar playing - covering a wide range of techniques found in all styles of guitar playing. In this course you'll be taught by a world class tutor ensuring you learn the correct technique from day 1 with no bad habits!
The course is broken into 5 chapters - in these you'll learn everything from how to properly attack the strings through to how to play like your favourite fingerstyle players. This is done through a mixture of lessons, exercises and musical studies. The course includes 5 arrangements in the style of your favourite artists (Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Lennon/McCartney, Paul Simon and John Mayer), as well as two arrangements for solo fingerstyle guitar in which you'll learn to play the melody and accompaniment at the same time!
If you're new to fingerstyle guitar then this course will take you from where you are today through to being able to play like your favourite artists. Even if you're already a confident fingerstyle guitarist, this course is a 'must have' - you can revisit the course whenever you feel like your technique and coordination needs a 'tune up'!
The course tutor is Stuart Ryan - a professional guitarist, with over 20 years experience playing for Studio Sessions, TV, Film and as a concert guitarist. Stuart's also a well known educator, as Head of Guitar at BIMM Bristol and for 15 years he was a regular educational columnist to Guitarist, Guitar Techniques and Acoustic Guitar magazines; as well as being featured in many national publications. Stuart's taught thousands of guitarists, many of whom have gone on to play professionally - you're in great hands!

As an Entrepreneur, Sam's company (www.frontofhousemanagement.co.uk) finds employment opportunities for talented musicians all over the world - often working for industry leading cruise lines and hotel chains. In 2018, they've provided around 10,000 days of work for musicians all over the world.
In 2017, Sam's company Front Of House set up Western Audio Recording, a commercial recording studio in (www.westernaudiorecording.com) - in the first year of the studio being open they've recorded a range of music for TV, Film and even a Grammy nominated artist.
Outside of the office and studio, Sam takes on freelance videography work for private, commercial and TV applications. With a small team of videographers and editors working with him, they handle events from small to large throughout the year - Sam, himself, has overseen the editing of around 2000 videos to date and is an expert in Final Cut Pro X.

Award winning guitarist Stuart Ryan is regarded as one of the UK’s finest fingerstyle players. His solo guitar compositions are regularly used by the BBC and other tv networks around the world and his touring schedule has taken him to concert halls and guitar festivals throughout Europe.
A passionate guitar educator, he has written over 500 columns on acoustic guitar styles for many of the world’s leading guitar magazines including Guitar Techniques, Guitarist and Akustik Gitarre. Students worldwide study his pieces in the Rockschool and London College of Music Guitar exam syllabuses and he has published two solo albums and three books on Fingerstyle and acoustic playing - “The Tradition”, “The Heritage” and “Acoustic Legends”.
In addition to composing and recording he tours as a clinician for Takamine Guitars and has shared the stage with modern guitar greats Jon Gomm, Thomas Leeb, Martin Taylor MBE and many others. In this course Stuart will share his Fingerstyle knowledge gained from over thirty years of playing the guitar!
