Preparation is everything. In this short lecture, we'll make sure you have all the things you need to navigate this course. We'll also go over some important ground rules for the Discovery Missions, so make sure to listen until the end.
Make sure to print your workbook before moving on to the next lecture! Your workbook can be found as a resource in this lecture.
We're diving in! Get ready to write. You will need your workbook for this lecture, so make sure you have a printed version before hitting play.
IMPORTANT: The timer is meant to be a guideline, but it's OK if you finish a little early or need a few more seconds to finish your last sentence. The most important thing is to KEEP MOVING to avoid losing momentum.
Time to get back to work. This is one of the most important (and powerful) parts of the course, so make sure you're able to give it your full attention.
REMEMBER: The timer is meant to be a guideline, but it's OK if you finish a little early or need a few more seconds to finish your last sentence. The most important thing is to KEEP MOVING to avoid losing momentum.
Let's look for clues! You'll need your workbook and a highlighter or different colored pen.
Purpose Triggers are one of the most powerful concepts you'll learn in this course. It will help you to be more self aware and consider what activities, people, or places fill your proverbial "bucket."
If you complete your clue-finding mission before the timer is up, simply fast forward to 7:50 for the next step.
Time for a good old-fashioned brainstorm! Make sure you have your workbook handy as well as a stack of post-its.
The most important thing for this exercise is to specific and keep writing. The activities you write down might seem mundane, but the goal is to have as many post-its as possible by the end of this! You may also be surprised to learn that some of your most "boring" or routine activities can bring you more joy than you realized...
It's time to make some sense of all your stickies. You will also need another stack of stickies for this part of the exercise, ideally a different color. You won't need your workbook for the first part of this exercise.
If you finish organizing before the timer is up, you can move right along to 4:20.
Before you move on to the next lecture, make sure you reflect on your findings using pages 27-28 in your workbook.
Good news: you can relax for a hot second and just listen.
One of the biggest challenges when it comes to finding your purpose is defining it in the first place. In this lecture, we'll explore what purpose IS and more importantly what purpose IS NOT. This will help you with the upcoming exercises!
This lecture is where you start combining everything you've learned about yourself thus far. Your Purpose Statement puts your purpose into words. It is also an invaluable tool for decision making and prioritization when it comes to your life, career, and relationships.
Depending on what approach you take, you may want to download the Purpose Statement Builder (can also be found on p. 30 of your workbook). We also recommend looking at some of the Sample Purpose Statements for inspiration. These can be found in the resources section of this lecture.
Once you've come up with your Purpose Statement, write it down on p. 30 of your workbook!
The key to living on purpose is creating a solid strategy and executing it flawlessly. In this lecture, you will complete your personal Purpose Canvas - also known as your roadmap to purpose.
Need some inspiration? Download our Purpose Canvas Examples in the resources section of this lecture.
IMPORTANT: Remember to be as specific as possible when it comes to describing your actions. It will make it significantly easier for you to follow through!
You're almost there... In this last lecture, we'll share some final tips and tricks to ensure that nothing will get in between you and your purpose!
We know it can be hard to share your vulnerabilities with others, so we created an email template to make it a little easier to reach out to your accountability partners. You'll find this template in the resources section.
IMPORTANT: Don't get distracted. When this course ends, the real work begins. Revisit your Purpose Statement and you Purpose Canvas often and continue to refer back to it whenever you're at a crossroads. Clarifying what really matters to you will make decision making a lot easier!
