An introduction to the course and how it is currently structured.
What products you need from FinishLynx, and a few that you don't. We'll cover the different levels of gear you'll need based on your timing level, from occasional amateur timer to professional.
We'll get started with Lynx, learn about the software, go through the Quick Start Guide they include, talk about networking and how to "read" an image.
I forgot some important information about where to save your files!
How do we get Faster and Better with Lynx?
Some rare Lynx things that might pop up... We'll talk about Wind, Splits, and Time Trial mode, among other things.
A lot of things can go wrong, let's try to solve them before they do!
Let's talk about RFID Timing, how it can integrate with Lynx, some things that might go wrong, and how to set things up.
We'll set up a meet within MeetPro and cover some basic functionality.
We'll set up the same meet we used in the last lesson in Hy-Tek and cover some basic functionality.
There are some things that don't fit well in other areas, we'll talk about them here, including rules and best practices.
This is Zero to Professional course for aspiring timers and meet scorers, focusing on Track & Field and Cross Country (with a little Road Race component), using FinishLynx, MeetPro, Hy-Tek Meet Manager, and scoreboard software. We'll do an extensive walkthrough of FinishLynx, learn how to connect everything to minimize errors, set up meet management programs, learn about scoreboards and scoreboard software, learn to troubleshoot many of the things that can go wrong with FinishLynx, and talk about weird uses cases of FinishLynx. I've also spent a lesson talking about my business setup and suggest ways you can monetize your skills, while fitting into the marketplace. There's also a lesson related to RaceDay Scoring, which is the premier Road Race Timing solution available as of 2025.
This training is normally done in person, but the upgrade in technology over the last 10 years has allowed me to move this course online, saving money, allowing for replicability, and creating a similar learning environment to what I've been able to achieve in person.
I've helped dozens of timers around the MidSouth and Midwest learn to time, let me help you improve your skills or teach you from scratch, in a way that puts you in control of your progress and pace!
