And Etsy is a marketplace where you can sell anything that starts with something that you created, and in most cases will be something that you made with your hands. However, in some cases, you will find that there are digital concepts that are being sold. And Etsy does have specifics on what they mean by handmade.

In many cases, there are tutorials that are being sold on Etsy. For example, if we were to type in the keyword 'Tutorials' to the Etsy search bar, you would see that that would yield 313,000 results. Now, in most cases, those tutorials will be directed toward those who are handcrafting their items and those who sell handcrafted items.

However, there are cases where courses are being sold on subjects that don't necessarily fully involve handcrafted items, but if you do sell something that is handmade, Etsy is the place where you can go and sell your items.

Now, one of the things that Etsy sellers depend on is the fact that their listings can be found in organic search. And if their item is specific to what the individual is looking for, that individual can find them in a Google search and then be taken to the Etsy marketplace where they can find that item and more that are going to be like it.

So, in this course, what we're going to do is walk through the process of taking your item, whether it is digital or physical, and getting it set up on Etsy in order for you to sell.

Promote Your Shop To The Etsy Community

The Etsy community is huge and you need to do all that you can to entice them to purchase products from your Etsy shop. Here we will show you what you can do to get your Etsy shop noticed by more people on Etsy itself.

Add an Etsy Shop Announcement

Immediately after creating your Etsy shop, you need to write your announcement. This is a feature that Etsy provides to all shop owners to get them noticed. When a new visitor from the Etsy community arrives at your shop for the first time the announcement will pop up right in front of them.

If a person from the Etsy community has already visited your shop, then they will see the announcement at the top of your shop page rather than it being a pop up. You want to make your Etsy shop announcement as enticing for visitors as you can.

Writing your shop announcement is not a one-time thing. You can change it any time that you want to. In fact, we recommend that you do change your shop announcement when you add new products or are running a special promotional drive.

It is best to add good “hooks” in your Etsy shop announcement that will catch the eye of your visitors. For example, you can tell them that there is a special discount code available, you are offering a two for the price of one deal and so on.

You can also add keywords into your shop announcement and we recommend that you use the first 140 characters to do this.

Creating Coupons for your Etsy Shop

Etsy provides you with the ability to create three different types of coupons for your products:

· A percentage off coupon

· A dollar amount off coupon

· A reduced shipping cost coupon

So, you could create a coupon which gives customers 10% off the products that they purchase. When you use a set dollar amount coupon you will specify the discount amount for example $10. Reduced shipping coupons are available for you to decrease shipping amounts on physical products.

The Etsy community are always looking for bargains so it is a good idea to create coupons and let your customers use them. A percentage off or specific amount off coupon will not affect the shipping costs. They just apply to the items the customer purchases.

SEO Optimize your Etsy Shop

Etsy community members will discover your store and your products through search. So, it is vital that you include all of the relevant keywords in your product listings. You can find additional keywords for your shop by checking those used by successful Etsy sellers in your niche.

Make sure that your keywords feature prominently in your titles and descriptions. All of your keywords need to blend in naturally to the text that you write. Don’t just add a list of keywords in your descriptions for example.

Etsy uses a “tags” system which helps them to organize their search results. You need to use the right tags for your product listings. There are 13 “basic” tags and 13 “material” tags for you to use. Longer keyword tags will bring you better results than single word or two word tags.
