In this lecture we introduce the idea behind Ethereum: to build the so called "Ethereum Virtual Machine" or "The World Computer". The founder Vitalik Buterin will explain his vision.
We will have a look at the basic tools for buying, trading and handling Ether - exchanges, wallets, block explorers. And I will introduce the native Ethereum client "geth" and its former fronted "Mist". From there we expand to "Metamask" which connects your internet browser to the Ethereum blockchain.
I would strongly encourage you to install Metamask and setup an account. This a precondition to experiment with smart contracts later.

You already heard about Blockchains and Smart Contracts, and wondered how this actually works?
You know that Ethereum somehow is made for Smart Contracts?
This course will take you to the next level.
It will teach you the details of Ethereum transactions, blocks, the mining process. In addition, you will have video tutorials guiding you step by step to deploying smart contracts and creating coins or tokens. All code examples are available for download.
Your lecturer, Prof. Dr. Markus Weinberger, is an experienced professor at a German university of applied sciences.
