Description

Welcome to Essential Russian in 5 lessons Mini-course (Russian for Complete Beginners) - your structured introduction to the Russian language.

This course contains 5 lessons. Lesson 1 is a review of the Russian Alphabet, which duplicates the material from my course ‘Russian Alphabet: Pronunciation and Spelling Rules’. It is included here so that new students can start without taking the previous course. If you have already completed the Alphabet course, you may skip Lesson 1 and continue directly from Lesson 2.

At the end of this mini course, you will: learn the Russian alphabet, be able to read and write in Russian, understand and use first greetings, questions, professions, names, verbs and useful phrases, learn simple grammar (personal pronouns, gender of nouns, adverbs and two main verb groups).

Each lesson follows a consistent structure to support different aspects of language learning:

  1. Video Lectures
Each lesson includes several short video presentations with explanations, covering grammar, vocabulary, and communication strategies. Watch these carefully - feel free to pause, rewind, or rewatch.

  2. Homework worksheets with answers
After the video, download the worksheet with self-study exercises. These help you internalise new grammar and vocabulary. Use the answer key to check yourself.

  3. Vocabulary Lists
Each lesson includes a vocabulary list to help you memorise and review new words.

  4. Extra Resources
Every video comes with a PDF presentation that includes the lesson material and answers. Some modules include additional content to deepen your understanding and provide more practice.
